What ever way is easiest. Your never gonna want a damper again anyway.

Throw that insert in tomorrow when you have an extra set of hands. Won't take that long. Just cut that crap out and run it straight down. Even if you sawp stoves that liner will stay put.

Yes. The original plan was to install it over thanksgiving weekend. Since I need a hand, and my right hand guy is busy with deer processing his 8pt he got in the UP, the insert won't go in this weekend.
This weekend I'll transport all my wood from my staging area to my house, which is 25 minutes away. A half cord at a time it will take a couple trips.

Hopefully next weekend I can get the insert installed.

Naw, he's got his family and his gf's family, and probably have to either pick up or drop off his daughter. All of those are a half hour away each way.

He said he'll be busy through Saturday. There's a possibility of him being available Sunday, but I don't see that happening.

Plus, I need to get my wood from his backyard to my patio. It's going to rain all day Thursday, so there's one day that is best reserved for cramming my face full of food and drink, as well as watching tons of football.

What kind of sealant do you guys use to install the top cap? It looks like clear silicone.

Its only my wife and I today. Unless you count dogs;). My parents are up at my aunt's, and my mom isn't much help, and dad can't help due to ALS anyway.

It's rainy as all get out too. It's supposed to be the rainiest thanksgiving on record. Usually if there's precipitation, its in snow form.

I did manage to get on the roof to double check things. I found out that my cap that was on the insert's old house will work perfectly.

    Today's the big day.

I took the doors/ faceplate off, and took out the heatilator rack, and cleaned the fireplace.

My buddy's coming over at noon.

Getting the ramp for the dolly prepped too.

Almost ready for the insert IMG_20151205_113658686.jpg

OK, buddy's running late, buy I got the chimney swept, the ramp to the patio door in place, all tools ready to go, damper plate out, and now I'm just taking a break waiting for him I'll check the clearance for the liner through the damper, but I think I'll be fine without having to hack the damper. Maybe I'll have to grind off the damper plate tabs top and bottom, but that still wouldn't ruin the old damper, plus that wouldn't be that hard.

It's upper 40's out and I'm sweating in a t shirt, jeans and my old green flannel.
