Thanks for the info Dave! I have gift certificates for Lowes and the Lincoln is only $323.00 with gas regulator. Do you have any experience with the welder at this link? Pete recommended it and I appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks,

Yes! They are a sweet little machine, one advise I can give is, until you get the feel of the machine, keep some nozzle anti-splatter spray handy for the tip and keep a few extra tips on hand;)… God knows I've burned up a few! I have/had mostly Millers of all sizes, I just sold two of my personnel big engine driven machines and bought the small Hobart 145 gas machine with built in generator, Thats all I need anymore. Those small migs are great for around the house and small projects! Lastly, Try not to run one with an extension cord, It kills your amperage and you'll trip the breaker real fast. If you got gift cards, I say "gitr done"

It's a shame your not close Ray, I could "give you" a nearly new CO2 bottle for that machine, that 'll do your mild steel.

Ok well I had enough heat to get the frame welded together.

First pic is two halves separate that I welded together a while ago.

Second is the two halves together with the paint stripped at the weld points.

This is an idea I had one day when I first started welding. I couldn't hold a piece upright because the magnets where not strong enough so I made this little jig. I lean whatever Im eliding at an angle on it and put a clamp on.

Lastly my secret weapon against a rusty welding table.

O I forgot the next step is to weld bars in the middle of the bottom to hold the rounds and a plate on the top piece to use as a catch tray.

Might come in handy while splitting at the lake.
Probably a bit tough getting the splitter in the boat though.

Well actually I was considering an attachable boat seat that I could back up to the lake and fish off the edge with but now that say boat! Hmm maybe a couple 50 gallon drums for the wheels and a propeller on the two stage pump.....:drunk:

I've always preferred "colder than a witches titty." Whatever that means.

No it needs some more work but it's hard to heat the garage when it's -10 to -20 outside sooo might be a bit until I get a 100lb tank.

Paste wax works for keeping the rust off too. Both are flammable so watch out. :fire:
