I bought an NWB "unlimited" coil for my 372XP XT to replace the Husky blue limited coil. There is something wrong with it as the saw barely idled and died as soon as i gave it any throttle. Issue is still being resolved through the seller.

I also bought a Mako 372XP cylinder and piston. I haven't gotten it to cut wood but fit and finish is pretty good and the saw runs well enough on the bench.

I will update this when the coil question is finalized and the saw throws some chips.

Just ordered this 42 mm Nikasil coated kit to put my favorite old limber back in front line service, $35 with free shipping. Just need the cylinder and piston (could have got that for $25) as I've already done everything else on the saw, but this will give me a variety of parts for down the road that will also fit my "bigger" 026. That should be a hint as to what I'm working on. :sherlock: My last rebuild attempt using new caber rings on the old OEM cylinder & piston just couldn't blow past 130 ........ :( Going to put an 18" 3/8 picco on it instead of its old 16" .325. It will only be cutting stuff less than 10" or so.

I bet you get 178 PSI with the new FarmerTec top end. We can have a PSI guessathon!

I looked at a card that came with the last Huztl parts and it said Meteor and Farmertec. Same company makes both.

I've got a 16" 3/8P setup on my 026, and it does well with that bar buried. I've seen a lot of comments elsewhere scoffing at the notion of using LP chain for general cutting, and I can't understand why.

I know Jon, its great cutting stuff up to full bar length. Been running 3/8P on some saws ever since MM turned me on to it a few years ago. Its just that after about 10" or so I'm usually grabbing for something with a "36" in its number.

I'm in the middle of putting a big bore kit on my 046 and the mounting holes (where you mount the jug to the case) look bigger than the factory ones. Is that going to present a problem? Should I drill and tap the holes in the case bigger?

It's a HyWay kit, I'm using Caber rings......

What size are your 046 holes Scotty? The 460 used M6 screws to hold the jug down. I don't remember if there was a difference between the 046 and the 460 or not.

They're M6, but 5HE holes on the aftermarket big bore jug look to be larger.

I wouldn't go bigger. M8 is a pretty big jump up.

How about a cheap aftermarket fuel line that came as part of a "Coil kit". I needed that coil but ended up buying a "kit" with a few extra "tune up" goodies included. I got the saw all put together after a lot of work and it would not run. I could pour a little gas down the carb and it would run nice for a few seconds and then die out. Kept fooling with the new "goodie carb" too thinking the problem was there. Even hooked a syringe up to the fuel line to see if I could draw fuel, it seemed a little slow coming. I had already cleaned the tank vent but I worked on it a little more. Tested the new "goodie" impulse line to make sure it was working right. Everything checked out perfect, but I could just not get it to suck fuel and run, or so it seemed. I pulled the new carb off to try the old one instead and just happened to push the fuel line a little just right and noticed it bent quite easily. I bent it 90 degree to the position of service and there it was, a dam kink. That aftermarket line is different enough that it will kink right next to the ribbing on its normal bend instead of holding a curve. Buyer beware! Damm, got me again! :headbang: I'm going to pick up a new OEM one Monday and see where that gets me!

I have had two aftermarket ones for 1127 saw where the grommet would not seal and allowed the tank to leak fuel. Stihl brand was fine.

Ran one on the ms650 that came on the hultz tank. 6 months or so it split where filter attaches. Right now I'm on another hultz line and its been there 18 months so good so far

Yep, I had a couple AM fuel lines for the 1127s that I was not happy with. They also would kink easily.

Hmmm. Maybe this is what's going on in that Stihl 015 I just rebuilt. It may be kinked.

That was it! I got a new line from a dealer this morning and installed it. It was slightly longer and thicker than the aftermarket. Poured a little gas down the carb, put the air filter on, and started pulling on high speed no choke. After about a dozen pulls it coughed, started running after 3 more pulls. The gas started to run down after 6-7 seconds, but just when I thought it was going to quit I got throttle. Yes :dex:  . That brand new "coil kit" zuma carb saw gas for the first time and took right off. Tuned it up for its new quadra-ported muffler mod and its ready to cut some wood! It sounds awesome!

I think this was another saw he was working on that had a bad coil and or carb?? I remember something about it awhile back. And the huge stash of parts he got from Huztle in china.

No, this is the old "boat anchor" MS390 I was working on in the "360 vs 390" thread. I'm going to finish that thread after I run the saw a bit. Stihl MS390 versus MS360, Worth Fixing the 390 up? | Page 8 | Firewood Hoarders Club

The Christmas thread saw is a 270 and should be here in a week or two.

You got it. Not a huge stash, just this from a different Chinese vendor. Its that fuel line that caused the problem kinking so I wanted to point it out here in the "Aftermarket parts" thread.

I wonder if someone like definitive dave or WatsonR got wind of all the aftermarket fuel line problems in these saws if somehow word would get back to the manufacturers of said lines....
