Yes, closer to 50°. Yours may vary a bit on the scale.

    Try one of these,

Yea your right about that. I know I am not set on 60...I will have to look. I think I took a brand new chain and set it on there and set the wheel to that angle. Now thinking I think it might read about 55? But if I remember there is two indicators on it and I dont think either is the same when the head is locked in. IE one may read closer to 60 and other is like 55? I will look tonight.

Looks nice and sharp but check your filing angle on the rakers. The stamped line on them is the angle you are supposed to maintain. Right now you don't wa
Get it right. That is CDO, alphabetical as it should be.

When I sharpened the left side cutters, the one farthest from you when it is in the vice, I had the vise tilted inward. I had it tilted outward for the right side.

Mopar can you post a pic of the vise and the table tilt with a chain so I can make sure I am doing out right.

The one I ground just cut like crap. I thought I did 55/30/10. But the chain I did was jacked up to begin with looked like they were cutting dirt. Tops of cutters looked like they were sharpened!!! So I had to grind like 1/8" off tooth. I didnt go as slow as I should had the rolled over metal and blued cutters but I was just trying to see what it would do and was using that as a test chain. I guess it wasnt the best since I too so much off. I usually take no where near that off!!

Can post up pictures later tonight or tomorrow, but if you have a 511 series, or knockoff, the tilt for a left cutter will be correct when you loosen the tilt knob and pull the knob to you, tilting the table towards the back of the frame

Right hand cutter will be correct when you push the knob away from you, tilting the table towards you

Post up a few pictures of your cutters .............. easier to look at the tooth and see whats happening Clem !

Most likely did not get all the damage removed.. On real buggered chains, sometimes it takes a few more touch ups to get it really proper.
Those round ground, full chisel cutter points are easy to litterally "bend downward" when they hit something hainus. like rock or t-post or...
And they can be damaged a long way back.

I dont have the jacked up chain. It was a guy I know I did it for him kind of testing my new grinding angles and to salvage a trashed chain. He hand files and there is no way he would have wanted to file that much damage out by hand. He is getting a larger bar and chain anyway.

Will maybe try to get a few teeth ground late tonight after my boy goes down.

Thats a very good possibility. I think a few teeth for sure did not have that point to them on the top.

This chain literally was cutting dirt. Would burn the wood and smoke if u cut and the top plates had lots of damage from I guess dirt? I am not so sure that this was not a tree service saw that they cut roots with or something?

Clem, a magnifying glass or magnifier app may be helpful to look at the cutter.

Ok I hit two teeth. Did not change anything from before. This is 55/30/10. I only did two cutters on the I guess left side it is? Pic of the table tilt to be 100% I am tilting right way. uploadfromtaptalk1446174169841.jpg

And then some pics of the tooth. Havent measures or filed the raker in I am not sure how long so forget raker height I'm this critique.

To me it looks as good and a bit better than before I changed and I could live with it then. I think that jacked up chain I just didnt get all the damage out and a combination of the edge metal that was left from me grinding the heck out of the chain as I was blueing the cutters :). Before I was grinding like about 58/30/0 uploadfromtaptalk1446174465988.jpg
