I have a warm spot in my heart for labs. I had two chocolate Labs. One passed away suddenly (blout) at age three. I still have the older male and a younger black female. Love the pictures, esp. of them growing up. Labs are such chewers. Our crate training saved a lot of agony while they grew up. Here is a good link to a thread where we brag about and tell stories of our furry friends. Giz/Emma and everyones pets on the board | Page 138 | Firewood Hoarders Club

Bloat is horrible, I had a Lab/Samoyed mix that bloated several time. The last time, when he was 14, they thought they save him and as we were on the way home after the surgery when they called to say that he had gone into cardiac arrest and they couldn't get him back. It was almost like he waited for us to say goodbye after the surgery before going.

Well I got my marching orders for today, make and can apple sauce. That project to be started after the bread is ready for baking. So no window cleaning and such for today. Have to round up a few jars and such.

Frost on the pumpkin this morning. Dogs went out, but were quick to want back in. At least we didn't get the snow they were to get in the mountains.
Grandkids are visiting already. That is a real change for us. Hard to depressed when those little ones are running around. Even the dogs love having them. The cats run and hide!

Played golf yesterday afternoon. There were snow flurries while we were on the 6th hole. I was wearing short sleeves by the 16th hole. Welcome to Ohio.

Low 20's this morning. Didn't get to 30* until almost 1. Must have risen a few degrees as it is 31 right now. Been cloudy most of the day, but did have an hour or so that sun was pouring in the windows and heating the house up so the P43 could take a rest. Not that it is working hard, but idling along a lot.

LEAVES = the bane of my existence. Can't believe how much fell over this past week! Today was pass 1 of 8 with the bagger. Maples first, then the oaks. Here's to many more fun leafy weekends to come!

Well yesterday's thoughts of leaf pickup changed when my honey decided to get a new dishwasher. The Kitchenaid she bought 2 years go crapped out in July and still not working. Lowes used 2 different freaking fly by night repair companies that either did not show up (after taking time off from work) or strung her along saying parts were unavailable then they were out of business. She complained enough and Lowes gave her the money back in form of a gift card.

We took the card and bought a new GE unit. Only a basic one for 359.00 as she needs it to last only a year when she moves. It was in stock, so in the back of her truck it went. Got it back to her place and started removal of the Kitchenaid. That was a royal PITA as it would not come out of the cabinet. Since it was such a nice unit and only needed a motor I was hoping to try and fix it myself-that went out the window as we destroyed it trying to remove it. Come to find out it was stuck to the drywall on the back and took the drywall paper right off. :hair:

The GE was a little smaller and went in nice and easy and it worked fine. A little louder and not all the options the other had , but in the end, all is good as having kids and no dishwasher for 3 months really suked.
