Got back from moose camp , wife has been burning 24 / 7 Stove needs emptied, lots of charcoal chunks to burn up. Did a coals burn down, & got a lot more room but when it quits raining It'll stil get emptied. Loading a 3/4 load every 24 hrs. not burning hot don't usually create so many coals, but I'm not complaining she likes the house warm, near 75 & did good. Burn season is here.
Do you use an ash rake Dave? I finally got around to making one last year, and I shoveled probably half as many times. I spent a lot of time burning up coals when I got home from my overnight routes. Wife just kept the house warm.
Yea made a rake helps a lot. Wife does good but it takes a little extra to do a coal burn down. I'm OK with her methods, I tend to tinker more with the stove, she just wants the heat
You are cleaning out the stove and I haven't even put wood up by the house yet Bogy but it'll be here soon enough. Eric VW there was a thread last year I believe with different ash rakes folks have come up with. Here's the one I made up.
75F seems too warm for me. But my wife also likes that temp and will complain until I get the house up to temp. I was able to run around in boxer shorts, but now with the kids living upstairs, I never know when the grand kids will come barging in.
Thanks, 'Rock.... Just finished reading the whole thread.... Some good idears posted! I knew someone (you) would come thru!
