I tried with my 1/2", but couldn't do it?

Worth a shot. If you have several of the same size? Then you shouldn't have a problem.

Dex I put it in a vice and pushed down hard while drilling. It didn't take to much effort once the bit went in but the metal pieces that make up the cat bend when the bit hits them and you need that pressure to get through the cat. Once you get through a good chainsaw file in the drill does the trick nicely. One of the things I did was not to clamp it hard in the vice but to use the lip on the muffler to hold it in place by setting the lip on the vice jaws for resistance.

Do all these saws run? I need chainsaw to do some very light cleaning around my yard. And will probably not need one again for a ling time. One of these seems like the perfect saw for that, any thoughts?

They all run and almost all seem to come with new bar and chain. Did you look up the link yet? They are sold "As is" and state that they run. But zero warranty. The 38cc would be $48.40 shipped.

Seems the price keeps going up??
(Thought the 38cc models were $50 yesterday? They are $55 now before coupon? )

Yeah I did.....for 50 I don't care about a warranty. But would be a little pizzed if it didn't run at all. I didn't see the part where it says they all run....will look again

My 41cc needed a carb adjustment to run properly, you need a special tool to do it without tearing the saw down.

My 45 came tuned pretty good but it had slotted screws to allow for some adjustment. There must be some sort of limiters on them but I haven't torn down the saw enough to get a look.

AS is these saws would be pretty good for the occasional branch or shrubbery trimming. Or as a backup for when you get your other saw pinched.

Nice this is what I wanted to hear. I have a couple piles of roughly 4" limbs that I want to cut down to lengths for a small fire pit. These is all that's left from clearing up a part of my yard. Once its done I wont need it again until mother nature gets angry. So this seems like a perfect saw for this project.

I don't know where you are at currently Mike, but I ditched the whole cat assembly, tack welded the supports to the reinforcement plate, and re-assembled. Also added the 2nd port.

Here is everything that was inside

I cut the end off the square support baffle, it originally had a hole the same size that you see on the end.

I think I will put it back together like this. But will need to weld/braze the internal pieces together. Just got to decide how big to make the outlet.

Good minds think alike... Just what I was planning to do.

Got any pics of the second port???

I was thinking of cutting out the existing pipe and putting in a bigger piece.

I also ditched the box entirely, and shortened the outlet pipes.

Yea Dex they were $50. The demand: is steady and supply seems low so they keep inching up price. That and the ones on eBay are selling for $10 more than the site!!

I bet if we slow down they will build a supply back up and price go down. It is burn season and cutting season now too. Next summer they may go down.

Would you recommend the 38 or the 45. Either is more than enough for what I need but figured I would ask

I am still tempted to get one of these saws too.. Once you get I will look for the mod where you shorten the bar from 18" down to 1" for cutting pellets.. :D
