Broken Laptop for parts/repair

    I just saw some interest from Kimberly about a broken laptop. I have an HP DV6 that is dead. I'd love if someone could use it. Pay shipping and tell me how to remove the hard drive and I will send it if anyone is interested.

    Look on the bottom for a hard drive icon, remove the screw for that trap door, unscrew hard drive and unplug cable. Icon usually looks something like this (the one on the left is keyboard, the one on the right is harddrive. Often it is just the oil barrel looking thing with no box around it):

    Lots of DV6 models WW. Which one in particular?
    Some Dells have a couple screws on the bottom to release the drive frame, and others (like the one I'm using now) are inside under the back/bottom cover.
    Should be fairly simple either way.
    If it's a SATA drive, no cable. It just slides out. You'll know when you see it....or take a pic, and we can help.

    Old laptops are old laptops, not fun to work on, not upgradeable, I have some I would give away, but they are incapable of running much more than XP, not worth anything except for maybe a collector

    Awesome, thanks!! I will let it sit here on FHC for free for awhile, then offer it for $1 plus shipping on ebay after that. (after I remove the hard drive).

    Depending on the model, it might pop out without anything to unplug. Otherwise it will be the one with the cable hanging off of it once you get the drive loose.

    I wonder if it will fit in a flat rate shipper? What are the dimensions roughly of the laptop. Yes, I would be interested even without the hard drive. You might have to ship the power brick in a separate flat rate box.

    The other way would be a priority box and USPS has really gone up on their shipping rates and you won't know unless you put in one and get the PO to tell you the cost.
