One roof vent and one drain vent replaced. Made some mistakes along the way; don't see any sense in trying to say otherwise. Hopefully they won't leak; I will have to wait for some rain to find out or take the hose to the roof; guess I will just wait for rain.

Question: can the starter strip be installed after the roof is put on? The guy that did the roof did not put a starter strip on either side of the roof.

I feel like I am in a Mike Holmes, "Holmes on Homes" episode.

He said it is alot of work that would take an experienced roofer to redo, including the row above.

(and that if me, the wife, needed to fix it, a big bead of caulk along the outer edge *only if* the shingles were hanging over the edge, and that could get me by a few years)

Yes, if you use a full shingle as a starter course. I was thinking of buying the starter shingles.

I would try to start early and it would get so hot on the roof that it would burn my hands to try and handle the shingles. So I would have to wait until the shade got on the roof. It took me two days to get that much done. I have two more roof vents to do and another drain vent.
