I thought about asking the same question yesterday. They have free shipping on the $287 reel from LoggerChain. I'd only want about 25' though. If you were serious, and maybe if we got a couple other folks in on it, I'd be willing to divvy it up and spin whatever chains everyone wanted.

I would but I don't use much .050" chain. Most of my bars are .063".

I'm in. Just let me know. That's a very nice gesture sir. I'd take 25' as well.

Madsens stuff will be square ground at that price also. Just round file it when dull. The LGX is higher out there.

Stop by and try out my 511AX if you'd like.

I don't have a resinoid wheel for it yet but the vitrified sharpens well if you're not sloppy.

    Hi Dave,:handshake:

The vitrified wheels last longer, are less dusty but generate more heat. The Resinoid need more frequent profiling, give a better finish but are dusty and don't last as long. My Silvey wheels are all resinoid but they are so much larger, they last a long time.

I haven't had much time to use the Nielsen for rakers yet. I need to get a wheel profiled correctly for it. I hit some barb wire Wed. on a couple chains during a 7 hour Timber Stand improvement job felling trees. So I'll get the grinder's bugs worked out.

    Hey Mike,

You want a practice chain? :D

Of course, its gotta be a 28" full comp chain that gets rocked out. :headbang:I've got a couple hours into this one on the granberg, and there's still a few cutter that need another 1/16" off.

3/16" double cut carbide burr for those rocked out chains to get them close......... and then file.

I know, the resinoid on the Nielsen worked really well. It had the characteristics you describe.

Unfortunately I have plenty of "practice" chains out in the barn.
