I built mine to handle the bigger rounds we get into. We split where it falls and back down the log length. Wedge on the ram so you don't have to drag it all back. With the winch, wedge on ram also takes the swinging aspect out of it. We throw splits that are done to the sides then back the truck down the wood path and load from both sides. 4 ft round here. Start chunking it out and swing the table out of the way. This one split odd but just swing the hanger away and finish the left chunk. Once the one on the beam is done, do the ones on the table then back to the hanger. Here's a normal one. Chunk and swing left table out. chunk off the right side and swing away. On bigger stuff I don't use the multiwedge a lot. This wouldn't work for some but for our way of doing things it works out great. Beam is 40 inches high as I'm 6'5" and that does a world of good for me. Cordless winch has 30 ft of cable so you can drag one to it if needed. With 2 guys this works very well as while one is finishing up the smalls the other can start getting the next one. Slower with one BUT, one guy CAN work up a 3 ft+ round with ease.
I like log lifts but there are times where that isn't going to work. No way I was going to get these rounds onto a log lift.
Yeah!!! And then Kevin in Ohio goes ahead and posts pics of that BEAST "after" you stated that!! And to make it worse, he's got that dang truck in his avatar picture that just KILLS me!!! We need a site admin to remove that truck picture from him, and ban it from the site!! I can't concentrate every dang time I see that truck!!! Krykeeee!
Sorry for the oversite, didn't mean to offend you. No need for me to get banned from the site. Here, I'll try to make up for it by posting a pic taken in the fall showing all the beautiful colors it offers around here. Enjoy!
