Well after being invited over here last night by DexterDay I am finally able to post. Here is one I just recieved from a member on As. It looks allot better after changing the top handle. If you notice there is a tweak between the top cover and filter cover. Pretty nice saw still. Tags still have the plastic but saw has minor scuffs.
I have a 16 inch picco bar for muh oh toosix ,it throws pretty big chips for a bitty chain ,maybe the bigger 3/8 sprocket helps the gearing some ?It is green safety chain too boot ,this bar fits the bigger saws too
here is another one that I picked up from a dealer. They took it in on trade and bought it from them for 200 with new bar and 2 new chains. They even went through it and replaced lines filter cleaned it up checked compression and gave it a 30 day warranty. Let's just say I go there for all my parts now.
P-7 and .325"-8 are nearly identical OD. 50cc CHAIN shoot out - 3 Bars, 3 Chains, 5 Sprockets, and 1 Saw.
I run a reg 3/8 sprocket with this pico setup or .375 in tech talk ,it is bigger than my .325 rim i have ,i will try to get some pics later
Here was mine, but it's a "mini" spline 3/8" rim. I wouldn't think that makes a difference but now you got me wanting to run out and size one up.
I tried these picco chains in both a standard rim and a picco rim and it seemed like it would ride fine in the standard 3/8 rim..i was advised against it..any imput ?
Look at the pics in this post: Note the fit of the chain on the bar nose sprockets. The shape and the size of the drive links differs from std 3/8" chain. It will run on a std sprocket but the sloppy fit will create wear issues long-term.
Well when i bought the bar from the stihl shop in town ,they told me it used a reg 3/8 sprocket ,the clutch spline is smaller on my 026 then my 440 or 660 so it is a small spline sprocket ,bar groove says .050 ,i run same sprocket for ,050 and ,063 ,so as long as it whips the chain around my bar and makes chips ,it is doing it's job i guess ,that pico on my hybrid is just silly ,feels like one of them gtg cookie saws vs a work saw ,at the time none of the stihl hubs where they order from had that pico bar ,had to be ordered from germany so i got dinged extra for freight .
I hear ya brian , i understand havin to use the proper bar , i was just confused on the rims only because the PS picco chain seemed to ride fine in a standard rim..but i guess it doesnt..no biggie to me.
I will try to get a pic this weekend of the 026 with the cover off ,am curious now too ,it has been cutting fine for a year or so with a 3/8 rim that i have had it ,it is nice having the reg sprocket on there ,i can throw a reg 20 or 28 inch 3/8 bar on that way ,yes sometimes i run 28 on the 026 for extra reach clearing brush .It actually oils it good when just cutting limbs . Edit , Does anyone know if there is a pico bar tip for reg bars ? the narrow kerf would be great milling i would think .
Yo Ryan, I think if you look close, the picco chain will be riding on the bottom of the tie straps, rather than on the drivers.
This has me wondering about that piltz dude on ebay..i was lookin at his 28" conversion kit for the 260-660..since it comes with a rim and drum i wonder if its just a large spline picco rim or if hes just givin you a standard 3/8 rim..its confusing.
