Really showing my newb-ness here, but I was just looking at woodstock's site, and they are selling Metslbestos brand. I typed in a general search online and found Duravent duraplus for about 25% less $ for comparable parts plus free shipping. Is there a big difference in these two? Is MB recommended for the IS?

I'm just about done burning. Turning on the thermostat is looking a little more tempting :). The good news is I got the motorcycle out for the first time Wednesday!

I'm not really too worried about shoulder season. My heat pump handles that fine. I might have an occasional fire though.

I think the Duravent is galvanized not SS. That is probably the difference in $.

Thanks! This would be coming in at around 1/3 the price of the most expensive other brand! They are almost finished completing our area's 1st Menards in town :) You may have just saved me a lot of $$$.

It's not that Duravent is galvanized, rather that some Class A is....no matter the manufacturer.
They make both Galvanized and SS.

I would say if you put in rigid insulation behind vinyl siding it has to improve draft. I used a double layer of half inch plywood for rigidity. If you like to scrounge most building sites give away plywood when cut out windows. So 2 pieces of plywood and foam should be at least an r11. Steel throws some heat probably more important on mine because it's thru wall

And how tall now from collar-cap? Straight up? You said your draft is good now?

Draft is great. Out the back and strait up. I starter the season just over the reccomended minimum 15ft and now at 19ft. If you can get the pipe local go with the shortest reccomended and see how it runs if it dosent play well add another section. I had the extra pipe here just didn't want to pilot the extra up due to needing a brace an putting more holes in my roof.

I've been telling people who aren't crazy about the looks that they need to see it in person to appreciate it. When I first got it I was very impressed and all my worries went away.

Well in my world all plans change last minute I was going down alone, friend called met me 50 miles out and we took his truck oh so tempted to load and leave. There are no PH on floor all gone. Picked up my uncle in sharon vt, uncle from Kentucky, and he asked questions I didn't think of. He been burning wood since 1975 in current house.. no pics but lorrin is at least 5-9 and slender. Wow nicest people so friendly and their welds are fantastic.

oh and just to make some jealous uncle has a 1964.5 red mustang in his garage he bought new... friend had to stop drooling so we could get on road

Yep, and the people stay exactly as they are the first time you meet them even after they have your money and you have a problem. They go that extra mile to make everyone as happy as possible and are extremely accommodating, again, even after the sale. Nice folks, nice company. Probably not enough reason to buy a Woodstock stove even if you did not like them or they would not quite serve your needs as well as a different stove, but it sure is nice to give your money to a nice group of people and have most of it stay in the US.

Congrats on the deposit, you made a wise choice.
Just following the IS threads on FHC is enough to
    Satisfy any potential buyer.

I have a question, how many places do these stoves have gaskets? The top, door and ash pan(if equiped)?

Now that the warmer weather has hit for a bunch of us is anyone loading for 24hr plus burns?
