I got old by being crotchety and not playing with fire without the 'bestos suit and gloves so to speak, so it is something I'll continue to be:p.

Now it is time for an English Bitter.

The first and only respone to those should have been, We have one and why did Drolet go from 3" to 4" on the air intake? That should have stopped him up short. The installer that put the holes in my house also put a screen on my OAK that blocked too much of the air flow. The ESW folks with the burn pot and gasket issues elsewhere are finding out all about air flow the hard way as well. A right sized brass bore brush works wonders on burn pot holes. I have slots in my burn put and they work well there also. I use one to get between the heat exchanger tubes as well.

Oh well not much going on tonight so I'm packing it in and heading up over the stairs after filling the roaster to keep the cat happy.

    Have a good evening.

wildwest it is hard to tell if the color of the ash in your stove is too black normally because the stove did not undergo a normal shutdown.

I however believe there were likely signs of a upcoming issue on the firebox walls before things went into the ash pan.

Now if the area where your OAK ends is not a ventilated one the guys are correct and you really need it drawn from the outside.

No worries on the porch friends, it's more like a lean-to that keeps snow drifts off the front door.

We don't want to be guessing, it is bad enough when you have several possible causes for a particular thing happening. We don't like to miss stuff so we try to nail it down.

Here it is in all its glory before we bought this home. The carboard duct taped to the studs has since disintegrated from the wind blowing snow in  . Really, you can see sunlight through the trusses and the scraps used for siding, lots of fresh cold air (slightly tempered from the leaky old windows to the left, which I run 80*.

Would you have a short list of things I might have missed before the avalanche?

I believe we have discussed them up thread, I don't have much information on the control board or on the flow rates of those blowers in the combustion air stream. Either the fuel feed needs a means to be changed or the air flow, we haven't got many choices at this point. If you need to burn x pounds of pellets at a set feed rate you need y amount of air(oxygen) , there is no real choice given how the beast burns.

Sounds like it to me. It also could be a trilingual manual.

Manual is out to lunch or there is something missing for whatever reason. Them's the choices, now how about a picture of the exhaust blower, if there are number we want them.

There are all kinds of blowers and they have differing CFM ratings.

I might spend some time reading through the manuals to find things that might be hinted at.
