That's what I thought. So both augers would have had to have been turning, not just the bottom one to run it out of fuel. SmokeyTheBear what would you recommend as being the best procedure in this case? Would the over heat sensing mechanisms still work to kill power to the auger when it gets to the trip point? Or could one not depend on any feature working correctly at that point?

I would guesstimate 60 bags? since last one ton cleaning.

I would make sure a full cleaning gets done before that number. Under 50. You are most likely boarder line at best with air flow with a clean stove, so this doesn't help in the least.
I know without counting a bag when I have a ton on my stove. I start to get a little hill in my pot instead of the nice hot bed of coals. And every day I wait to do a full cleaning that hill gets bigger, faster. What would never pile high enough to get to the chute, would get there in less than 24 hours if I wait much longer than 50 bags burned. In fact I waited a little too long this last time and had to shut the stove down every 12 hours for a couple of days. Not good on my part.

Depends upon how fast it was feeding maybe a dose of CO2 in the intake and then yanking the plug and let the natural draft do the rest. They at least have that natural draft in their favor.

That is not a good response from that stove at all to a power off request.

I would also have looked for action on the part of the vacuum system (this is always problematic as a certain pressure difference may still be present even though the burn pot is filling up).

I know that some controller software goes to an internal failure mode when it isn't certain of the vacuum in the firebox and locks out the control panel and just pays attention to the vacuum system and such, the stove could have already been trying to decide if it should shut down or not.

ETA: I don't have the code running in that controller and don't really want to get into it as I'd likely have to learn a new assembly language and there is already too many cobwebs in that system.

Husband had a fruitless call with Drolet. Technical help insisted that since it happened with me, it had to be my fault.

Excuse me!?! I turn the heat up and overflows several hours later and it's my fault?

I will do deep clean tomorrow, lucky I am home most the time to catch it next time it happens. We have two smoke detectors and a CO detector in that room.

Drolet suggested cleaning each and every hole in the burn pot, so WildWildWest is going to take something to the holes in the burn pot this weekend, I don't see that helping the overflow but I guess we have to go through rigamarole....

I found it in the manual! It is letter G, actually the small computer fan as RockyMtnHigh called it earlier. No flapper on this model.... The fan was turning when I unhooked the OAK and again after reassembly.

I am opening it back up for a deep clean on Friday, I understand what you are looking for now and will try to find the info, though pulling off a motor is over my head if the numbers are inside.

It won't likely do a thing to help. But what the hell there was a Magnum owner who got that kind of an idea and nope only made things worse in his case.

I just mentioned that the controller adjustment wasn't the only one that gets made. A lot of quad owners get into a lot of trouble by not paying attention to that page in the manual no insult was intended.

Nothing quite like gumming up a stove with a long term rich burn and lots of carbon in the pot and so forth and so on.

Speaking of that, are the ashes in my lower exhaust box too black?

I would be terrible if someone needed to order an oxygen generator for a pellet roaster. What did hubby have to say about his time with Drolet.

SBT, no worries, he's not making new holes, just cleaning the factory ones :) I edited my post to reflect that. Sounds like a weak excuse to me from Drolet, but need to follow thier troubleshooting to get better help from them..... :headbang:

He said the phone call was a joke, and that the guy had seven excuses before he got done explaining the problem.... My favorite is the guy said we need an OAK. (we have one). Then he said it was cold air coming through the OAK causing the pellet overflow (our OAK is in an enclosed porch, plenty of fresh air from poor construction but warmer than the outside).... We have never had any condensation or ice on our OAK!! We will go through the idiot steps for them to prove we need something to make it safer.
