Do you think methane would use the same orifice as propane? Or should I look for a conversion kit? ;)

Seeing the gas will only come in burst's, Just drill out the orifice as large as you dare. Get all the heat at once. Plus you won't feel as much back pressure and drop a lug nut of something.

Make sure you tell every one near to stand back while ya test er out!

View from down the road of smoke shows house!

Was trying to get it at HD, Went with the 9600 first. Then I tried the 9100u. They had neither in stock. Lowes says they will have it in the store tomorrow so I went with the TX9600TS. A little more than I wanted to pay, But supposed to be so easy even I can set it up. ;)

I like the touch screen feature. So if the wife comes home early(she has a floating schedule) she can bump it up herself.

Yep, a nice unit. While programming, you can even copy & paste a daily schedule if you have multiple days that will be the same. Working well for me so far.

I appreciate the support… my first smartphone was a Droid. Took two weeks for me to figure out how to shut off that stupid "DROID!" voice I got every time I had an email, FB message or software update. Kept it for a few months then gave it to my granddaughter. POS IMHO.

I've been in the Apple camp since '09. My biz partner and I bought two iMacs to be able to easily create our own radio and television commercials for the hot rod show we did together. Plus I used it to do my desktop publishing for my printed flyers and print ads. I bought a MacBook Air for myself… my wife has an iPad and I DID have an iPhone but I gave it away (again) when I retired.

I used to think Apple users were a bunch of weirdo-techies but I would never go back to a Windows-based machine. I'm pretty dumb with technology but the Macs are really good…easy to set-up, no drivers needed for your printer or other devices, no hard drives to crash, no towers, no viruses to speak of… just all around better. You get home, unpack one box, plug it in, turn it on and it works. I know MS has gotten better in recent years but take a trip to an factory Apple store (not a retailer) and be prepared for an incredible learning experience.

Walk into an Apple store with a problem and it's usually resolved while you wait. Great tech help. People who know the product inside and out. No commissioned sales people so everyone is there to help. When we bought the two iMacs they were two different models with two different software packages and one Quad core and one Dual core processor.… 20 minutes after we bought the units they had been loaded with all the right stuff and were boxed and ready to go home.

You can do your own personal projects on their machines right in the store… photo editing, music downloads, film projects, writing, etc. No charge. Don't have to buy a thing. Pretty amazing. Madison, WI is my nearest store. I visit their about once a year. You see UW-Madison students in there all the time doing their studies and projects. They have about 10-15 demo units you can use. Garage bands come in to mix their music. If you need tech help it's free for one year. Make an appointment and there will be an Apple Genius waiting for you when you arrive. They will teach you anything you ask about… from a simple introduction to iMac to details about most any Apple program. You will never get that from Microsoft, Dell, HP, etc.

Just take a look around on this link… your opinion of the company may just change a little bit.

Not wanting to get into the ole "Apple vs the World" argument, and while my kids support the Apple product relentlessly, we argue about it. Apps, etc not available 9since its not open source, etc), my point is maybe one step up from yours.....I am a bit prejudiced, as I've been a Microsoft fan since, well, forever.....ole MS-DOS, Fortran experience......you ought to see me work a console!. You know, the real arcane stuff that the average Apple user has no use for, but the MS certified folks still use?

Apple notwithstanding, the problem I have is with the elitist attitude that SO many apple-users have.......(in my best Haaavad accent)...."Say, ol Sport, you're using a FLIPPHONE?! (guffaw), you really should step up and use the phone Buffy and I use, this iPhone192e......so much more superior.....you're Such a Philistine!".......lol.....

Did you guys hear that a Russian bought the Pabst beer brand and he's looking at brewing the beer in Milwaukee? He even toured parts of the old brewery which are still empty.

    Thanks for your comments

I did have quite a configuration problem that took some time to figure out since this setup is all new to me.

    The problem was this:
The iris hub was setup in the basement in the boiler room which is approximately 50 feet from the shed.
This was not too much of a distance for the smart plug to work because I could turn the shed workbench lamp on and off no problem.

It was too far a distance for the Iris T-Stat to work which made it tricky to figure out at first!

Luckily I had run 3 cat 5e wires up to the livingroom which is on the side of the house next to the shed.
So I moved the iris hub up to the livingroom next to my verizon mini cell tower and ShaZam it works!

Therefore the location of the Iris hub is quite important.

So now I am doing some full testing and it seems to be working just fine since the iris hub is approx 20 feet from the T-Stat ! ! !

See pic 1 - Tstat control

I like how it charts the temperature! :)

I had the Tstat inside to pair it with the hub and add it to my list of active devices so that is why the temp went way down when I took it out to the shed! LOL

I just turned on the Quad in the shed with the Iphone so the temp is on the rise, so now we will get some real data. Cool Stuff!

    Hello
Had a little trouble getting the range extender setup for Z-wave devices, and since the T-stat is a z-wave device and winked out in the snow storm it is needed. The range extender initially had one bar and said Low Signal. There is a special pairing procedure that iris support girl is very patient and will help go thru it. Then the range extender properly read 5 bars and ok!
The max range is 65 feet for the iris hub and another 65 feet with the range extender but it is radio wave and somewhat line of site so care must be taken to locate the hub and extender in prime locations.

So it is working much better.

Oh boy wait until the guy with the 1Kw linear on the CB in his truck rolls by and keys his Golden Eagle noise maker. 10 + bars and the receivers go poof.

    Hey Smokey
    Got ya ears on?

Citizens Band operates at 27 Mhz and Z-Wave devices at 900 Mhz. Big difference. :)

I run my insert of a wifi stat; work great. It's a nice way to monitor the room temp when you're not home. I can also see how a test bag of pellets is doing regarding heat output. Another nice feature is dialing back the temp on a night I clean the stove. Takes a lot less time to cool down when I get home and shut it down. My favorite feature is turning the stove on remotely after we've been away. Nothing like coming back to a toasty house. I have another wifi stat that runs the oil burner and central air.

I could bore you guys to tears with details on my lights and IP cameras.
