The hearth looks nice but I'm wondering if you were having trouble with the stove floating away at night so you had to weigh it down?
Seriously though I am guessing you are using them as a heat sink for extra thermal mass?

You're both right! I know the stove has been cheating on me :) But, yeah, just trying an experiment and they do stay hot for a long, long time plus they were just laying around getting into trouble.

Not a wood burner, but here is my pellet stove, it sits off of the kitchen with my comfy rocker not far away!

Cozy setup you have there, looks real inviting. Like the vertical blinds too. We just installed some in our stove room and like them a lot. There will never be drapes in that window again, while we're here anyway.

Thanks, and I a hundred percent agree with you no more drapes ever again, I think the blinds look a lot nicer.

Thanks Matt. It was a fun project for me and my two sons. I'm always amazed when something turns out in reality the way I pictured it in my head. (My family is even more amazed because they know I only know how to do each stage of the project because I looked it up on the Internet the night before.)

LOVE the wall tile. Like brick but the natural stone pattern is awesome. Wait, it is tile on the wall, right?
