Yeah it was all over AS. I don't know if any of the 66s had 288 pistons in them.

The 660 looks to be cutting about what I'm used to in that sized wood

Yeah but if any of those saws were snellerized there is a chance they are slower then stock.

Yours look about right to me. Ususlly 70cc is as fast as 90cc or sometimes faster in that size wood. They just have different powerbands. Strap a bigger bar on them and put them and bigger wood and the 66 will pull away.

Brads personal 66 was about 10th place or so. A lot of saws cut in the low 30s and thats where Brads was IIRC. They was also a box stock 66 there. I think all the saws but maybe 2 were faster than stock and those 2 had running problems.

Randys winning 066 cut was 24.xx seconds.

Then out came a TM390xp and wiped all the field out.:)

I would invest in a tach. That 660 is eating well, but still sounds fat. That 372 is turning more RPM in the cut..

Even when you are not applying a lot of pressure (pushing with finger) , you are still locked in the dawgs and pulling on it. So there is a significant amount of leverage. The best way to make a cut to test speed or tune, is to keep the bar as level as possible and apply pressure, but keep the RPM up in the upper range. Rocking the saw and using leverage will slow the times, and apply more pressure to the cutters.

As Staff, I apologize for the derail. But just about every thread gets derailed. Unless it's only a page long. To have one of the longer threads here, it is a compliment to your saw :)

Honestly, I apologize. I will start a thread later to take the banter out of yours.

It happens on every forum. This derail is pretty harmless. I've seen some on AS that were...

Josh, Those 660s are severely plugged up compared to the older 066s. If your muffler hasn't been modded, the factory outlet is not much bigger than a #2 pencil! Those saws need to breath.
Cut the baffle contraption out of the muffler and Putting a dual port muffler cover on them make a big difference.
The spark timing is a bit lower on the poly flywheel 660s than the early model metal flywheel redlight 066 saws. Advancing the timing a bit will help it some too.
The muffler mod helps more than the spark advance, but both do make a difference.
