Get a new compression gauge, gut that muffler, start from scratch on the carb adjustment and make sure its 4 stroking, and she should cut. Has the saw been messed with or an attempt to port it by someone?
That saw is deathly lean on the high side !! I suggest that you pull the limiters and tune the saw in the wood Sounds like you still have the baffle in the muffler too ........... they really wake up when you remove the baffle, enlarge the outlet, and tune it in the wood
Yeah. Notice how the first cut wasn't too bad but the second it got weaker and sounded a little tighter revving?
I agree that modding her will make her scream, but that's not what i was going for originally. Stock, it out to out perform most other saws. So i need to adjust the H screw by turning it counter clock wise right?
Yes until it starts 4 stroking. Then make sure in big wood when u cut it 4 strokes when easing up on the saw in the cut and cleans up when leaning on it alil. Thats a safe setting to adjust carb in big wood. It will 4 stroke in smaller wood but u will be getting plenty of fuel and not lean it out
Sure She is 4 stroking until 8-9 seconds, including the start of the cut. When the bar is loaded, she runs clean, but notice the transition @ 17 seconds ......... as the load is removed, she 4 strokes again ....... then @ 26 seconds when she is just about through the cut, she 4 strokes again while cutting as the load decreases
that's what i thought. Perfect. That's what my 372 sounds like, as it should. I'll probably get another video up after while with some adjustments.
Tuning a saw is the same for me, regardless if totally stock, or ported until the balls are blue .............. less than 25% of the bar doin the work and she should be 4 stroking ................ more than 25% of the bar doin the work and she should be clean !! Yes, counterclockwise will add more fuel to either the high or low adjustment, and don't let anyone (including me) tell you to modify your saw. Its your saw, if you want to mod the muffler, or not ............. its up to you. Modifying a saw has many benefits, but lets get her running real good for you first, a saw that screams isn't really running well and usually needs more fuel
Ya I guess if u r gonna sell the saw I wouldnt modify it either. If u arent a reputable porter and say u modified it the first thing everybody thinks is Does this man know what hes doing? That would work against you. But on the other hand if u keep it for yourself it would be foolish not to at least mod the muffler and add a dp cover as everyone knows a 660 stock is choked. Ive seen the dyno to prove it added 1/2hp just to add the dp cover
I totally agree. If i didn't just buy the 372 this summer I would have certainly started to mod it. Who knows....the urge may strike me.
