I did. I was just posting back after my tune up with the results. I'll end up putting some rings in it i'm sure.

mdavlee-it's got a brand new Oregon 72LGX chain, rakers haven't been touched on it.

There should be holes cast into the cylinder that allow you to go through the top. I can vaguely see one in the pictures just left of the spark plug.

Thank you! I thought about that right after I posted that and walked to the house from the barn. Headed that way after dinner.

Your gonna need a 5"-6" long T 27 torx bit. Or a screwdriver with the T-27 bit to remove, but having a way to properly torque it down on reassembly helps. Rather than just getting it "tight".

Yeah that's going to be tricky. I don't have the size so I'm going to have to find one.

Home Depot has a set of t handle torx on sale now for $9.99. I'm not sure if it has a T-27 though.

Those 4 bolts are tight, you have a 50/50 chance of snapping those $10 sets

Finally got a tool from Stihl. Couldn't find anything else locally. Rings are in and saw back together. Exact same compression as before. I bought it to resale, so that's what I'm going to do.

Anyone know for sure what the compression should be? I've read different numbers different places. And it varies widely.

Does the compression gauge you are using have a Schrader valve in the end of it? It should look about like a tire valve.

Compare your reading with a known good saw. Some gauges aren't very accurate (like mine.)
