big bar on a 441cm

    Think he just meant get the 36" and wait to put it on the 441 until its got some extra bananas, and use the 660 in the meantime

    The 36" regardless of oiler concerns will put a quite a bit more leverage/torque on the powerhead as well.
    The anti vibe mounts may see undue wear from pushing a big bar like that - just something to consider.

    I actually contacted Stihl after I found the broken mount on my awesome used one, an engineer originally replied about a different mount and never heard chit when I directed him towards the potential weak spot.

    And Craig it still puts huge smiles on my face:thumbs:

    I did mean use it in the 660 now, then save it for the 441 once it's worthy. But, if they're different mounts that changes that.

    So, are they different?

    Same mount (12mm)..

    As for the 36" bar? If you running full skip, it will pull it. After extra bananas, it will pull full comp 36".

    The oiler will be lacking as others have noted. Ask if they will buy a 32" instead?

    He'll buy whatever is right, just wondering how far to push it. What's your thoughts DexterDay on running even a 32" hard on a new saw?

    HO oiler is around $90 retail. 32" is a good size to run on it.

    Pm me if you want an HO oiler for that saw.

    You need the HO for anything over 25" IMO. In good cutting conditions the 28" oils adequately but just barely.

    36" is doable on a 441, but you're prolly gonna want to do full skip chain and non E fuel.

    Mine pulls a 28" full comp real nice:smoke:...problem is the oiler..if u dont run canola and into some big wood it wont oil worth a hoot..idk what is is with stihl and their stingy oilers:rolleyes:..wait till you see where the teeny oiler screw is..first thing you thik is wth?:picard:...i think MasterMech did a oiler chaneout thread..i think it was $80..btw i think the 441 rocks 2!:dex:

    You can make your own HO if you want to do some grindingon the plunger.

    Whether it's a 25" or 36" won't matter as far as the saw goes. Doesn't matter if it's new or old as long as your under load and not bogging it really bad.

    The oiler is the limit. Stihl set that at 32". How they come up with the number? Is beyond me.

    MM has a good offer on the HP oiler.. And Mdavlee may have some insight on how to make your existing oiler work under these demanding conditions.

    I however, cut little cookies ;) So I only need a 16" bar... lol

    Mike would know more about modding the existing oiler. I have the HO parts and a willing victim that I can snap a few photos of the process for those that would rather go that route.

    Then of course there is the new oiler kit which is rather spendy (at the typical dealer retail) IMO.

    There is not for the 440, but the 441 uses the same oiler as the 460/461.

    Did I mention that him and his boy do the splitting, and that they haul and load their own, and they have the FEL, and he's family, and I think it'll be cool to be part of accomplishing such a grand task.

    I see your point though if this was some random dude and I bring all of the equipment.

    The reality is that the trunk could just stay there. It's in the middle of four square miles of farm field. I would just like to see that old girl not wasted.

    Pyro..how much wood in the trunk?..lots...id by the ho oiler..let him buy the b/c combo and git to work..hes family..hang out have fun..i would:)..im sure you guys have equipment to roll that thang!:smoke:oh 1 more thing by the time you git that thing cut the saw will be broken in...it still has not reached peak power yet!:eek:
