Just finished this ported 036 for my buddy Ron660. Meteor piston , stock oem cylinder, 185psi compression, and squish set @.019. Lots of torque in this one
Ya. Painted crankcase, new seals, painted muffler and buffed cover with a muffler mod, new starter coil and rope/handle, new tank vent, new carb, new mastercontrol and spring, new ignition coil, new clutch system and oil lines, new clutch cover, new b/c, new air filter , new plastic. Meteor piston with caber f cast rings, original oem cylinder and I ported it, squish cut in cylinder and cut base to accomodate a base gasket left in and set at .019. Adjusted compression between 185 and 220 with gasket. Busted my dang thumbnail trying to start it at 220psi!!! Lol
What is your paint of choice for Stihl grey?? I picked up light Ford grey from TSC but haven't found the time to test it out.
The ford grey clashes with the stihl grey. I ordered the original stihl brand grey. Its not very solvent/fuel resistant though and If I painted one again id get an air gun and have the automotive parts store match the stihl grey and get a solvent resistant paint or easier would be clean case and have someone powdercoat
Ya I could get 220 out of this one but settled on 185 for the thickness gasket I had to set the squish at .019
At 220 psi, 6° timing advance, and no decomp this 036 was a real nail buster to crank!!! Lol! U definitely had to find tdc with the pullcord before u gave it a commited yank!!!
Have you ever tried to remove The original paint/PC? It's rediculously tough. Stands up to 80 grit AlO2 at 100 psi. Of course, it loses a little shine but removing it is seriously tedious work.
