MS441 vs MS460

My 441CM was faster than the 660. I put a DP cover on the 660 and the 441 was still faster. I put a 8 pin sprocket on the 660 and then it was faster. I'm sure in bigger wood the 660 would have been faster stock. The RPM's the 441 turns made it tough to beat.

 

I would haft to give you a A+ on that post. Im running a 8 pin on my ported 441 Do you?

 

My buddy has a 660. I'll do a race with him at some point vs the 441 and get video on my youtube channel. Not sure when, but I'll do it. I don't know how much quicker he'll get through. He's running a 32 inch vs my 25, so it may be more a level playing field than the same size bar[/QUOTE]

 

if I had thumbs on my feet I'd try racing the 460 and the 660

 

My 441 is stock. It has a 7 pin. I'm not sure if it would have the power to pull a 8 pin.

 

Both are unmolested...
Am thinking of putting a few $$ into one of them, probably the 460 as the 660 only has like 20 hours on it

 

Stock 460/461's have more HP than 660's despite what the factory specs say....already proven with dyno tests. After porting, the 660 wins in HP at all rpm ranges.

 

Try an 8 pin. It should have the power...especially with a short bar.

 

441 will be happiest with a 7 pin

 

Did you post this dyno chart here? Seems like I remember seeing it on here or was it AS?

 

A 8 pin might work with a shorter bar but I have a 25'' bar on mine. I don't think it would have the power to turn a 8 pin with a 25'' bar. The 441 is not a real torquey saw.

 

Yeah...I have a 25 inch bar and several chains for that size. I have never tried the 8 pin with that set-up. I have the 7 pin in the field bag for when I switch back and forth.

 

There's an easy way to find out....For firewood cutting, I love the 16inch bar 8 pin set-up. My friend with a 32 inch 7 pin 660 set-up is happy when I help out on ground work duty during his tree jobs. He thinks that my set-up is a firewood cutting screamer given that a 660 has lower rpm and better torque for felling and bucking large stuff but not great when cutting up smaller stuff or limbing. I score free firewood, and he keeps the cash. A sort of reasonable deal...his wife leaves him to earn all the money, so I help him out any way I can.

 

If I'm cutting something small I'll grab smaller saw with a shorter bar. The 034 super is a good all around firewood saw. When I get in something bigger I'll get out the 441 or 660. I really like the smoothness of the 441.

 

I don't have an in between. The 290 lives at my house where I cut stuff around the yard. My 441 is the firewood saw.

 

I think the factory dyno results were on AS but the ported charts were also posted here. Chad did all the dyno tests.
