For the gold chassis rig? Probably 7- 8 hours +/-. Some of that time was spent breaking in the ball differential with a drill. That took an hour or so.
Well, it's as far as it can go until the powerplant is back in stock, at which time I'll order it and the two servos I'll need for steering and throttle / brake operation. Too cold to paint the body currently.
On to this rig now. Much more involved build. The originals were chain driven 4 wheel drive. The re-release version has optional belt drive as well as the original chain drive. I'll be building it with the belt. Lots of parts to assemble.
There is a lot going on here. I didn't show the differential guts when building them. They are just conventional spider gear, open diffs. Nothing fancy.
This car will get ran a litte, on "clean" grassy areas, but not beat up. There is to much going on to have to repair if I get too rambunctious with it.
I love these vintage style Kyosho rigs but they are complex. They were premium race cars back when the originals were released.
Man I do remember that! My first RC is a collectors item.... and even most collectors don't know of its existence. I have been living in hotels for the last 2 years, so in my boredom I bought a Redcat Accent 18 to toy with. Then that transitioned to an Axial SCX 24 Bronco (See classic car thread) So I bought an SCX 24 Bronco. Then Purchased an Early Bronco body (to match my real truck) from Iceburg RC in the UK. But after running this truck around my hotel room on the bed and dirty laundry I knew it needed upgrades.
So I thought a quick set of tires was easy, I was wrong, it led to 4- link suspension, new axles, shocks, and a skid plate.
My next crawler will be the redcat vertex 6 and the redcat apex. I'm about finished with the 5 cars I'm working on. Unfortunately, backorder items are slowing my process on a couple.
So I am glad it is not just me that has this problem. Funny how that 5-dollar part you are going to install becomes 50 before it's over.
I just pick this up as well and 2complete kits with a bunch of spare parts and upgrades. The complete bike is a Nuova Faor 501. The kits are the Nuova Faor 506 which is a newer version from the 501 model. This should keep me busy for a while.
I started building the kits with any upgrades I think they need or, if it's it an RTR, I tear them down and add them. Saves the headache later. Lol
I got it back together, Had to abandon the Steel driveshafts (need to be drilled out to fit the pinion), as well as the 4-Link, since I ordered the wrong kit D'oh. So, new axles, wheels, tires, and now, the steering servo is non responsive, lovely. Always something. Eventually will get the Early Bronco Body on.
