Really good...figured out this fall that my brother had loaded a new program in the controller a couple years ago (it had a glitch) and he should have recalibrated the O2 sensor afterwards, but didn't...been running that way since, until this past November...seems to be running more efficiently again, like it did the first year...still wasn't terrible like it was, just not as good as it could have been.

I don't have a bypass so that's always closed, make sure the fan is running, but toss it in, light it, leave the door cracked just enough that fire doesn't come out the door, and let 'er eat. It gets a little sporty, but doing this crusts up the creosote up top so you can scrape it off and you can see the creosote behind the panels start to run down and leak back into the firebox.

There's not much there, but when you get a ripping hot fire it will make it loosen up and slide down the firebox walls.

    Bed time.
Tomorrow will be bed time for the boiler till the fall it worked flawless again & I managed to never clean the ash out of the firebox this year. I will load it with cardboard & light it before the water temp goes down hope it cleans some of the cramp within. It will be my first time doing the burnout so naturally will update if/how it works.

    "farmer rob,
Well that was the first time I ever burning it out and I have to say it did loosen some of the crap off the walls not as much as I had hoped but what can we do if not enough cardboard to fill the firebox.
I will for sure do it again in the fall but now have to chip the stuff off around the door. The inner panels are loose but this year will only take the middle one out to clean what behind them. I suppose I had best clean out the fire box.

I believe a common "shut down for the summer" technique is to let the water temp drop quite a bit and then throw in just enough fast burning wood/cardboard/etc to let it eat wide open for some time, get things hot n "crispy" in there, then shut 'er down...
