Looks like you could build another shorter table on the opposite valve side also. Very handy with the wedge on the cylinder operating horizontal vs the opposite. No one ever thinks about the "work" involved in pulling the splits back the stroke of the cylinder (for those without a 4 way wedge) for additional splitting.
Not a splitter mod but it sure saves my back. Old cargo carrier on a platform hitch on the 3pt hitch.
A follow-up to this stroke limiter post. That white rope only lasts about an hour then breaks. But overall worked well.
Oh, here's another "mod" Simple but catches all the splitter trash and bark/ debris that ends up in the grass.
Barrel halfs were too slippy and awkward, so Had to add rope handles to drag/lift the full barrels. I just flip the gate down on the atv trailer and drag the barrels on then run up the mountain and dump the junk in a hole on a path somewhere. The junk is great for drying up a muddy ditch across a trail.
That's a slick little walking beam trailer too! I think you showed it years ago, but you know.... the memory thing.
My latest mod is a lighter spring in the ‘extend’ side of the valve. It now only takes one finger tip to move the lever and the reduction in arm fatigue is amazing. Still getting used to how light it is. Sort of like going from a gritty 7 lb trigger to a nice crisp 8oz ‘breaks like glass’ trigger on a rifle. I cannot say enough about this mod. It is right up there with detent returns and 4 way wedges. Definitely a must have. It is an easy mod and only takes a few minutes. To keep oil from spilling, move the lever to the return position once you get it stripped down to about this stage. I am not sure if there are different sizes for springs, so measure yours and find one that fits.
