Their port layout is like nothing I've seen. These older echo saws that is.

 

I went to test it with what I thought was a sharp chain but, my dumb azz forgot to sharpen a chain I hit a deck screw with. As in I cut the screw in 1/2 all 3.5" long ways. Needless to say, it was trying to cut a bowl and I ran out of time to test it more after I fixed the chain. Tomorrow I might get after it and get a vid.

 

Wow! Can it be sharpened after that? I've hit nails and can usually save the chain but the one time I hit a deck screw the chain was trash. I'd save that screw, put it on the wall in the shop or something.

 

I had to take it to the lines on the cutters to fix it. One cutter was broken off. The chain had, maybe, 25% cutter length left. It on its last sharpening now for sure. Below is when the damaged happened. I thought I had fixed the chain but either didn't, or didn't grind enough. The first go round.

In late October/ early November a new deck is being built. Our 28 year old 4x4 posts are starting to rot off at the ground. It will be built with proper 4x6 or 6x6 this time and composite decking, stainless screws and powder coated aluminum railing. There was no was we were leaving that metal well tank under there with a new deck covering it up. We have a new fiberglass tank buried by the 4in submersible well.

 

I still wasn't happy with the rocked chain. Some tooth corners were still a tad rounded so I put a new stihl picco full chisel on it. This is that dry, hard maple I alway test in followed by red oak thats been on the ground a year.

I have some goodies coming this week for the CS-310. It doesn't quite run like I want it too. Something in the carb isn't letting it clean up unless under a significant load. More on this later.

 

So what I'm hearing is you want more chainsaw action in shorts.

The areas I'm pointing at with the screwdriver had to be trimmed so the cs400 air filter adapter would tighten up squarely to the carburetor.

 

I still need to trim a 1/2 moon slot in the lid so it closes.

 

That metal tank didn't have many years left in it. Good call!
