Ground some chains for the echo pole saw. 3/8 low profile semi chisel safety chain. Cutting pretty good for 25cc

I should check. I doubt it though, it’s 3/8 .43 44dl on a 12” bar. I bought 3 chains for it when I bought it. In the 3 years I’ve owned it I haven’t gone through two of them. It’s not like I hit dirt with them often. Whenever I use it I am cleaning up branches 3x more than I am cutting. Nature of the beast.

BIL gave me a fubar 3/8 lo-pro. I should have scrapped it and bought him a real chain.

Really wasn’t worth the time I spent on it.

 

I have an area that I cleared several years ago. It was a thicket. Briars battling to the death with invasive vines. There is a pig nut hickory that was being strangled by vines. That tree has exploded in growth the last couple years. Cut a dozen stumps that I should have cut years ago. I like to cut them to the ground and notch them out. In a year I’ll kick what’s left and it will crumble.

MS251, great saw for little jobs. This saw owes me nothing, I’ve cut so much with it.

Grand finale of the day. Working for my neighbor Darren today. Clear cutting on a state wildlife management area, we cut here 2 years ago I think. We was pretty much done with the big stuff that we wanted to do today because it’s supposed to be pretty windy tomorrow. Walking back to the buggy I asked if that was all of them. He replied “ except for that big b*#+€t^?d over there. I said “well we have probably just enough sun left before the temperature nosedives, then I won’t have to deal with it in the wind”

I had about an inch of bar to spare.

Make huge piles with a skid steer. So yeah, kinda compost… eventually. They may burn em at some point. The piles we made 2 years ago are still there.

 

Not worth the effort for the low btu's? Far enough ahead? Be fun to buck a few rounds off the bottom just for chits and giggles. Kinda makes me wanna throw the 36" bar on the 500 and go to town. Been a couple plus years since I've used it IIRC.

MS290 and I think a Husqvarna 445 rancher.
Cut a load of hickory. I used the ms290. I have to say this saw is a dog. It had a semi chisel chain which didn’t help. The saw went through a tank and a half of gas cutting this load. It’s difficult cutting with a non ported saw once you know what it’s like. It did get the job done.
