How does your 250 handle the 18" bar? This one is either 14" or 16" haven't measured it yet.

Any idea where I can find instructions and maybe pics for the 250 muffler mod?

The 18 seems to be a good fit, but I have always been curious about trying it with a 16. I think I followed instructions for a 290 or so that I found on the web. Used a YouTube video when we tuned the carb.

The 250 has a 14" bar and chain and both will be replaced at some point soon I hope. If I can mod the muffler I might go bigger.

Just put together a parts list for the 260 pro and it's a long list. Even found some of the cooling fins on the jug snapped off and some very slight scoring on the piston on the exhaust side so it's looking like it might not be worth fixing.

Yea if you need plastic and going P/C u be better to part it. But if u just put a meteor piston and plastic from china you won't be in it for too much. But a full aftermarket p/C and a bunch of parts you will be pricy fast.

Look up eBay just about every thing is there. Also I have a guy who deals in saws on eBay he has tons of stuff. I called him up after messaging him. He put all the parts I wanted in a bag and I paid him by PayPal. Way cheaper. Then piecemeal ing them off auction or buying at dealer.

You could convert the 250 to an 18" 3/8" Picco setup.

Top end kits for a 260 can be had for cheap. Even OEM isn't bad. As long as you have most of the parts and the bottom end is good, I say put it together.

I'd say if u can be in for less than $200 build it.

The broken fins won't hurt it, I would just try to replace piston if C is not scratched

Looking on ebay now. Any experience with the nikasil piston and jug kits? They're cheap but I'm guessing quality is low?

With the cheap Chinese prices for plastic and no piston and jug I'm already around $200 without shipping. That's without a chain cover, bar, and chain so I'll still need those.

Nikasil is best, chrome Plated is good but not as good as nikasil. I have bought from HLSupply, quality was excellent for the price paid. I did a 460 kit. The saw wound up being a real good runner.

Yup. The killer is the fuel tank and rear handle housing. Chinese version is $55.

That's what I mean. I just watched a 260on eBay sell for $200 with free shipping. A good looking saw and a runner.

MM the nikasil is a Chinese brand for the coating. There is 2 kinds spelled different?? I think the quality would be far different than the hi way kit.

I talked to a guy that said the cheap kits blow faster. Said the wrist pins fall out causing them to score.

I have plans to buy a cheap kit if I get a scored husky to test reliability bit don't expect much.

    It may be worth it.

U need to find a seller with a parts saw and make a deal for all u need.

When you ordered you parts from Huztl did you pay any customs duties or import taxes? Finding some better prices to get the parts closer to $100.

    The HyWay kits are Chinese........
Nikasil is not a brand name. It's a coating type. Short for Silicon Nitride. Very hard stuff, great for anti-wear applications.

I know its the coating, but the Chinese ones are sold as nikisil!

No there is no taxes or fees. I'd your handle says $55 free shipping that's what u pay.

It took a week n a half to get to me. I'm on east coast though. It came into NYC first.

There very good. I even had a broken piece and I had good communication and just got a replacement but it still works as is so I'm shelfing the replacement plastic.

Ok. Thanks. Any idea if the plastic might be the same for both the 260 and 260 pro? Some of the listings don't specify the pro part and don't want to get the wrong thing if I decide to order.
