Its back together. I removed all carbon from piston, combustion chamber and exhaust port. Freed up the ring and cleaned the ring grove. I polished the edges of the pits where the plating is chipped. Flap sanded the bore some. Deleted base gasket. It has noticeably more power. I'll get a video today. Those pits are below the ring travel area so maybe the plating wont flake off. I really have nothing to loose but my time, which, as a hobby, I don't count.

I wish I had thought to tach it before and after. You can hear it running higher RPM from the first video to this one. I'll run a few tanks through it. If it still acts and sounds like this, I might just buy that sawzillaparts.com proline piston kit for $25 and take a chance the plating stays put. We shall see. Its just a back-up unit as I have a nice echo handheld thats much newer that we bought new in 2016.

I picked up a MS361 on market place. I pulled the muffler and the piston/cylinder look perfect. The only issue was the oiler not oiling. I pulled the pump and blew a puff of air from the port at the pump that goes to the port by the bar. Out shot a goober of muck. I went ahead and changed the intake tube/filter and the sealing ring because they were starting to harden. It is oiling fine now.

This is my first smart saw. Is there anything special I need to do on the first startup?

I have run 5 tanks through it so far and it is working great. I have been having trouble restarting after it cools down for 10min or so. It seems to want one pull on choke, turn choke off and four more pulls.

Don’t think so as far as break in goes, the new saws love extra oil though. 40:1 would be the leanest I would run in them. I prefer 32:1 myself.

Hot restarts on all my Husky’s are best done on fast idle, not choke. I realize you weren’t talking about the 562 but get in that habit for it.

Good to know! I generally run 40:1. I'll mix up some 32:1 for the first gallon.

Yeah, I think you are right. It will make me feel better knowing what condition it is in. I also want to get a look at the fuel hoses too.
