I acquired a nice used echo from Sawdust Man and I'm planning on doing some enhancements to it over time.

Starting with the immediate removal of the carburetor shackles.

I took a couple piston pics while I had the muffler off to study my modification plans. Beautiful. 20241109_083338.jpg 20241109_083318.jpg

They are not, no. The metal needle is exposed in the center. The locks are splined to the needles. I lined up the "nub" with the slot and used a sharp pair of needle nose pliers to extract them.

I got my first run in with the 4010 today. I cleaned the filter and greased the mating surfaces, as they don't appear to seal well enough without to keep fines out. I swapped on my 16" sugihara bar and Stihl pico full chisel. Tuned the carb and made some cuts in cherry thats been down for 3 months. The second cut was through a large knot sticking out the opposite side.

As far as I know, it's considered a 16". I haven't measured to see if thats usable length or a Stihl type measurement where a 16" is a closer to 14" usable length on their small mounts. I can measure it when I weigh it tomorrow.
