never seen a three range but you could get a high/low 4 speed 8n, friend of mine has one and it makes it much more useful being I think the standard 8n is geared a little high even in first for some things. Really no reason a mid 20 hp gas tractor will do over 30 in road gear. The 2 speed was a Sherman hi/lo or over/under and they made a few types i guess. Another conversion was the ford flat head v-8 conversion for the 8n tractor. 25 ish hp to 60 or 80 would be crazy

Hardly enough iron in an "N" to use all those ponies!

Kinda what I was thinking too...not enough weight, and if weight added, then not enough "beef" elsewhere

My brother in law has a Sherman auxiliary transmission in his ferd tractor and a hobby farmer neighbor installed one in his ferd. He wished he'd not done it because it messes with the pto speeds he was used to running equipment with.

    From a tractor forum...
The Sherman Tranny H/L Combo expanded their ability to do many more things because it increased or lower tractor speed. 9Ns and 2Ns with a 3 forward speed transmission from the factory could now be 9 forward speeds. The 8Ns with 4 fwd speeds from the factory could now be 12 fwd speeds. Now the little Fords were very well prepared to run many more types of implements and make there original use expand to fit different soil and terrain situations.

I’ve used my buddies and it’s only hi/lo so maybe a factory ford. Watched him pulling bush hog with one of his 8n’s before he knew what an over run clutch was and he almost took out a fence and barn wall.

    Nothing wrong with that. :tractor:

With any tractor, it gets sporty when you weigh them down AND crank up the power. One or the other usually doesn't harm much.

After my warranty is up on my 2025r I was thinking of turning the hydraulics up a little like some do but not sure if it would be a good idea or not. They run 1800 -1900 + or - 200psi factory but has all 3000 psi rated hose ect. I’m sure the 3 cylinder yanmar mechanical pump diesel could be turned up some too
