It was time to overhaul some racks near the toolshed. These were donated by someone several years ago who was relocating. The uprights were not PT, and deteriorated.

I reclaimed what I could and moved forward.

There's room for three racks there. The one in the back has campfire wood, which will be burned up this week, hopefully.

The front rack is 12ft. I'll put red oak on it. The middle rack I'll put black birch on.
The third rack, will be rebuilt and loaded up, eventually.

I couldn't leave the rack totally empty. So, I split a 2-wheeler load of RO.
    IMG_20240917_092621.jpg

Those racks face the driveway. They were looking too messy. Having new splits will be fine for the next 3-4 yrs.

I'm needing to deal with this now, because I'll need to shut down my wooding efforts for awhile. Next Tuesday I have an appointment with a dermatological surgeon to remove a precancerous "atypical mole" on the bottom of my right foot. No yard work for at least 2 weeks afterwards. Oh well, life happens.

Along those lines, I plan to get back to my SIL's tomorrow morning to buck up the remaining logs to get them outta the way. Hopefully, I'll get them moved this coming weekend.

Before shutting down my wooding efforts for a week or three, I've been splitting and stacking the wood from my SIL's.

    That's a 12ft rack.
    IMG_20240923_083205.jpg

Behind it is one (for now) 8ft rack for Black Birch
    IMG_20240923_083219.jpg

What's left are some BB rounds needing to be split and some RO rounds needing to be cut/noodled.

With a face cord of limbwood css'd from last week, I'm thinking around a cord this time, from my SIL's wood farm.

After being laid up for a few weeks, it was time to do a bit moving around. I emptied then refilled one chunkhausen.

    IMG_20241010_084627.jpg

I used my yard wagon like a shopping cart, moving about my racks collecting older chunks holding down rack coverings. Then, replacing them with fresh cut chunks.

I turned a corner and realized I had some extra work to do.
    IMG_20241010_083944.jpg

    Oh well. Not the 1st/last.

I'll need to move the splits further away from the rack so I can get in there and address some needed leveling.

Bummer about the rack. I’m sure it’s a good feeling to be back out there taking care of things though, especially this time of year.

I did get some trigger time in this morning!

Stack 'em up, cut 'em up, pick 'em up.

Time for the 3yr sleep. The limb wood finished off the rack quite nicely.
    IMG_20241011_100203.jpg

I even split a 2-wheel load of black birch
    IMG_20241011_100231.jpg

I have a few more loads of BB to split. Hopefully, Saturday am.

It felt good to be in the woodyard.

I did get the BB all split and stacked.

I re-leveled the fallen rack and got it ~2/3 restocked. Had to save some for tomorrow!

    Busy, busy, busy!

How's the wind down there today? I need to get a bunch of prep work done outside prior to the tree felling next week but the winds have been wicked up here since last night. Trees down all over the area, multiple roads closed, power out everywhere. Not the best day to be working under dead oak trees (or any trees for that matter).

It's breezy but nothing close to what you describe.

    Stay safe.

A landmark day in the woodyard. I finally broke into the oldest stack of wood out there.

    IMG_20241224_070433.jpg

As I was moving splits, I recognized the ring pattern from an old oak. The RO's were taken down here - Oaks to come down...hopefully

I pulled from the rack closest to you.
