A fella on here ports chainsaws. He has giant fingers like sausages. So, his saw builds get the extra sausages treatment. His avatar has the sausage in it. Lol.

The upgrade kit came yesterday, took saw to work with me last night.
I made a gasket to go between the riser and carb from stencil board 20240629_205659.jpg
    Barely see it here 20240629_205643.jpg
    Top view 20240629_205625.jpg
I did put a thin film of grease, as suggested, on top and bottom of filter... 20240629_211122.jpg
I like the look of the vented trim ,better air flow too... 20240629_211255.jpg
The fit is very nice too... 20240629_211303.jpg
It rips now, will have to tune it in some wood.

So the power is noticeable since you put the spacer on? It was impressive already before.

It really opens up now, the OEM filter would clog pretty quick, make it run very rich. Have to stop and go clean filter, sometimes before the morning is done. I hope to run it tomorrow and see how it does.

We got chance to run the saw in a knotty post oak log. I think the air filter upgrade is a worthwhile investment, especially when paired with a huskihl build.

Question on the gasket...will the stock one not work at the air horn/carb connection with the kit? Wouldn't be a big deal...made plenty of veggie fiber gaskets previously. Curious.

Edit: Is there even one there from factory?

Gotta like that. Chain looks a bit aggressive. My 241 is acting like that currently as I got the rakers a tad to short.

Not on there from factory, the install video suggested a thin film of grease, as he has to block sand the mating surface. It was quite smooth, I just wanted a little insurance

It is a bit aggressive, top face angle is between 50 and 55°, makers were .035 a couple sharpening ago and I'm running 8 pin sprocket. I was also cutting thru some big knots.

Mine is currently whatever the stihl 2 in 1 does as far as angles, 30° I believe on the cutter angle. I set the rakers at .035 with a west coast raker plate. I haven't used the Super Jolly on the 241 chains yet.

I have a 4910 that I bought a couple of years ago and have considered sending it off for the extra sausage, but can’t bring myself to part with it long enough to get it done. Out of 15 saws it is always the one I grab first for general firewood duty. I guess I need to buy another one and get it sent for the treatment. Obviously I would then have to send the other one off when I got the first one back.

All you need is to get on the list. I’d message you when I was ready for it and then if the timing was right you would only be without it for a week – 10 days

We all have our favorite but sometimes we have to part with them for a little bit for the better good
