Yep, those insulators are rough, much worse than a nail. Worked with a guy that resawed and planed heart pine timbers/beams. We used a metal detector and got the nails out. Je had the big vertical bandsaw with feed rollers, blade was probably 5-6" wide. Ran a beam through that had porcelain insulator tube buried in it. Not a pretty sight, for sure.

That's a good one Jim. Was at Home depot today, and as is my habit I priced framing lumber.....it appears I've been doing it all wrong......I thought I was sposta cut off the "roundy part" of the tree.....
