Thanks. Yes, Rit dye. I followed the instructions with adding vinegar and dish soap. Boiled in the 18 qt roaster over for 2.5-3 hours. I used the whole bottle of dye in 4 gallons of water plus the vinegar and soap.
It did. Not shiney like doing a new saw but it hid the ugly. That was the goal. Now I need to get on DDM and order another filter or two.
My cylinder is back from Shawn Carr. It was a whopping $25 with return shipping. More to come once the Arctic GTFO of here again.
Maybe so, I've only ran a couple stihls and I wasn't overly impressed. I like my Husqvarna and dolmar. I have heard very good things about the 241 but never had the opportunity to run one.
I've decided, again, to port this saw myself. And I did just that today. I'm only showing the exhaust and intake as the extensive lower transfer work is someone else's genius that I emulated. The numbers ended up, how I read them, as 106° exhaust, 75° intake. I didn't touch the uppers. I widened the exhaust 65% of the bore diameter, which ended up being 3mm total. I think this is the prettiest exhaust I've managed to do.
Muffler is matched to the port using the metal gasket as the guide. It was quite a bit larger than the port.
