It's been a while since I last fired up a saw. There's been the bottom stump cut of red oak at my SIL's. I decided it was time for me to do something with. Time for a new use for the van. On to the red oak Noodle time! Used peavey to roll chunks around and to finish the noodle split. Healthy looking growth rings I cut off several root flares I put a tank of fuel through the Husky 350. If not familiar with this 350, here ya go - A gifted husqvarna 350 I'll get back to split in a few days.
I'll love the way it'll split. That chunk has been there for a couple of years. The bark was coming off in big sheets. It'll still get it's 3yrs of sleep time when stacked.
Awesome! Love those saws. Been too long since I’ve had any trigger time, way overdue. Noodles make great fire starter too.
Today was x27 day Half-wayish I missed noodling off some root flares. Most split with an extra whack or two. Finis! Figuring about 2 weeks worth of midwinter heat. A half rack or 1/6 cord. I'll line up my buddy and his PU, and move it home. I'm in no rush.
Nice work. I like those root flare ones and similarly shaped peices to get the stack more or back to level while stacking.
I've been leaving the bottom 2' lately so I don't have to worry about a bunch of banana splits. Processed a fair amount of 'stump' wood last winter.
My buddy was feeling better today, so we moved the wood. Just unload and dump it. I got it all moved and covered. I was guessing a half rack worth. Pretty close guess.
