Some type of limiter make turning the screws easier once they are trimmed. Others do not as HDRock found out. Do what you gotta in order to get to twistin' on those screws.
I like the caps after the wings are off simply because they work well to hold the screw driver tips. They make it easier to find with the screwdriver in otherwords...
If this was a new out of the box carb, the caps are not fully seated on the adjustment screws, so that you have full movement of the screws to get the carb to work with the saw, then you press the limiters home on the screws. A particular model of carburetor may have many applications across many manufacturers and products, so the limiters are not functional 'pressed home' when the carburetor leaves the factory to provide for multiple applications.
Now I get it That's what I was kind of thinking because if you were to press down on them they would engage into the spline part of the screw
I think cutting the wings off refers to a stihl carb. And if that is a stihl carb those things dont look like the ones I messed with or my memory is super fuzzy?
Most stihls are inside a little shield to make it harder to pull those tabs. That's a husky carb that he was asking about.
Thats what I was thinking. But I could not place what carb he had. Like slim pointed out the few stihl I have done gave me no trouble. I yanked them right out. One was on the saw the other I had the carb in hand. Pulled them right out.
Man prell your going through the list and digging up all kinds of posts I am seeing things pop up we havent seen in months half a year or more in some cases.
