I think I am gonna go ahead and sell my Champion 23 ton splitter...I have a guy at work that is looking for one and is interested in it, so the timing is right.
Also think I am going to order the new cylinder with 3/4" ports and a 1/2" larger ram diameter...that'll help speed things up even more, and allow me to sell the old cylinder to offset some cost. $70 just in shipping for that beast though! Oh well, it looks to be a direct replacement, only with a couple upgrades, so

I’ve got a meeting Monday to make a splitter with an 18” cylinder like I want.

    for a boxwedge, 4-way and a 6-way and a log lift.

So I'm measuring up the hydraulic tank on this Huskee 22T splittah, and its only ~4.95 gallons, if its full to the top, and they only call for to be about 2/3 full!
I'm thinking I need to add some additional storage for a 16 GPM pump! On the hunt for a small squarish hydraulic tank (or something that could be made into one) that isn't going to break the bank...:makeitrain"
Found a 10 gallon tank that is reasonable, but that is physically too big...

I was thinking of an old portable air tank, or LP tank...would really prefer something square/rectangle though...open for suggestions...its will have to go where the engine/pump used to be

Well I'll be dipped...this thing has tapered roller bearings in the wheels! They not in very good shape, but still, wasn't expecting that!

No, just didn't like the air filter set-up on the display 11HP motor. Boxed ones may have been different, but for the $50.00 or so difference I felt like it was worth it. Also had a 20% off coupon. I have thought about it, and some said that I should, but didn't want to go down the rabbit hole as you know what happens then. Bigger hoses, better cylinder and valve, the list goes on. I use the 30-ton anyway and Edwin doesn't mind how slow it is.

If it came with a ball-hitch coupler, that's almost mandatory. Anything less on those small tires (NHS rating?) is just asking for trouble, even towing at sub-30MPH speeds. Tapered rollers are so ubiquitous in the trailer industry, prob not much to be saved by skimping here.

Many (most?) newer splitters (chinese made?) have bushings from what I hear...

Should have a pin/clevis style hitch then to discourage high-speed towing. But that's just the engineer in me talking. I wouldn't be surprised, just disappointed, to see the visible things like the coupler remain higher-spec, and the invisible things get downgraded.

Now I'm going to have to tear into my splitters wheel bearings just to see what's in there.

Might not hurt anyways...mine look like they didn't have much grease and got kinda rusty crunchy...more grease would have probably prevented that. Found a set of 4 bearings/races and 2 seals for $25 shipped...oh, and 2 new cotter pins and hub caps too.
