I've used right at a liter of the stuff here lately. It doesn't smell bad but can get to bothering your eyes if there's no breeze milling.

Yep, I am not a heavy user so I buy whatever is there when I need it. I have never seen it before so I figured I would throw it out there.

I looked that stuff on on HF site. It lists it as $5. Thats $20 a quart!

I can almost have a whole quart of amsoil delivered to my door for that!!

That bottle only makes two gallon @32:1 .

This weekend alone the little cutting i did i burned a bit over a gallon of mix!

I just got 3 liters of maxima k2 delivered for $60. That puts me at 25 gallons for those 3 liters. Not cheap but a tiny bit cheaper than ultra and no headache.

Real simple. The 3 best oils r 100% ester based offering ultimte protection. Motul 800t, Belray H1R, and Maxima K2.

Stihl Ultra is formulated by Castrol and packaged by Omni Specialty Corp. Near my hometown in Shreveport, La.

It works, and is good oil for these engines. But there are better oils out there for a LOT less money.

The price and headache from using it was enough to turn me away. Last 6 pack I bought was $14 for 6 pack of 1 gallon size. I can buy a quart of klotz cheaper and maxima k2 is a little cheaper.

Listen to KG461. Two-cycle oils, the ones that are submitted for lab testing, have the following ratings from lowest to highest (best): JASO-FB, JASO-FC, JASO-FD. This certification is usually on the back of the bottle. The European ratings are similar but states an EGO-....but ends with the same labeling such as FB - FD. Stihl HP Ultra is JASO-FB and I've used it but will not any longer. Since I have all Pro saws I wanted the maximum protection so I only use JASO-FD rated oils or the ones that exceed that rating. I've had great success with Motul 800 off-road at 32:1. The last time I checked inside my cylinder, ported 660, the inside looked like shiny chrome....spotless (free of carbon buildup) with a nice film of oil on all parts. I'd definitely recommend JASO-FD oils with "Ester". The Ester allows the oil to act like a magnet to metal....always oil on the cylinder wall and piston/rings even when not running. So you have a nice oily film before you crank it.

Also, the Motul 800 off-road is cheaper than Stihl Ultra.

Doesn't look to oily? After running Motul 800 in my 660 and 036, looking at the piston and cylinder wall, it's COVERED with oil. I mix at 32:1.

Was it oily or do I need glasses? Last time I looked inside my 660 a large film of oil was present on all metal parts.
