I was only shopping for 2-24" skip chains for the 372XP, that got wrecked cutting yard trees with fence insulators in them. Won't the wife be surprised when a box of 30 show up at the house, have to take advantage of the deal. Thanks guys!
Thanks for the heads up! I was just watching a comparison of chains yesterday. This guy likes Oregon LGX which has been disconed. I too like that chain. He's looking for something to replace it with. Interesting testing criteria.
Droop test? My .o2; If you like LGX, chances are you will like EXL too. Very similar performance but EXL is a little harder metal so it holds edge a bit longer. Stihl chain is just way too expensive but if price is no object, use it. Holds edge longer than any other chain I've used, by a pretty good margin too. That would be a much better criteria to test IMO. Milling is a good way to see how durable a chain will be, given they are compared when filed at the same angles. You also see who stretches more.
Real world testing criteria! This guy throws a LOT of wood onto the ground. I'm sure he will give working results on the different chains he tries in the field. I don't like LGX because he does, I like it cause it's good chain.
Agreed! I hoarded a bunch of it when it was cheap so I'm set for many years. Found a few weird drive links on some loops and Oregon sent me replacement EXL ( Weird drive links on LGX Oregon chain.) no further questions asked. I like it just fine, in fact a bit better than LGX. EXL is a touch better than the old Carlton IME, that's one he didn't have to compare.
The 24 looks like a GB bar. Poor paint but they’re good bars. Not certain of the maker on the 28, but it doesn’t look like Forester to me. Could be though. Both appear to be .058.
huskihl one said Forrester (28) and 24 said Forrester pro x series but I’ll verify I bought a GB bar in 24” in 050 Thought I would loose track of the .08 that bar will be on saw when brother uses it
She is pretty good when I order a lot of something, she knows I have a reason. She also doesn't complain that I spend money on tractors, implements , saws, and power tools to improve the property. She has her own toys that I don't say anything when she buys something for. Its easier that way.
Could be. I was going by the shape of the sprocket tip. All the Forester bars I’ve seen use an Oregon style single rivet tip. And that one looked like a GB tip.
I must say their Stahls customer service is great a confirmation phone call placed order Monday.. Delivered an hour ago quick free shipping 48 hours guy needs to get himself a bday present
Both Forrester but I got a GB in 050 Brothers can use Forrester in 058 to help dad at camp. I keep my bar and chains separate
No kidding. Never seen one of those. I bet that bottom bar is of really good quality. It’s probably a re-branded GB.
