I knew the log arch needed rebuilding. Was hoping to keep it as is until after the GTG. Well that wasn’t happening Found a crack in the tongue area. It’s made with very thin wall steel. Surprised it took the beatings it has. The bigger tires were planned. Low profile tires suck in the woods. Too bumpy even deflated. I started with the tires. Cut 7” off the side arms to drop it 2” lower than how it came. High center of gravity isn’t good in the woods either. Could have dropped it even lower. I suck at math. Got the tires on today anyway. Next will be rebuilding that tongue area. It’s broke before and I keep patching it. Time to do better than patch.
Looks like a huge improvement but I don't see any balancing weights on the new tires. How's that thing going to tow when you've got a stolen 20ft utility pole straddled underneath it and your quad is tapped out on route 2, high tailing it home wearing aviator goggles and a big $__t eating grin on your face?
Just on a quick trip around the yard I could tell it’s much less janky. I’m calling that a word Drop em down to 5-10lbs and they should ride even better, at least with a load on.
Where you get these crazy ideas about me? You’ve seen poles on Rt 2? Where exactly? I’ve had her up to 25 with a 2000lb stick on it. Gets exciting quick when the log starts swinging. I’ve found wrapping the chain around the log once stops a lot of that. Nonetheless an atv isn’t going to be too stable if something happens with all that weight in tow. I’m old enough to keep the speed down. And there’s lots of trails that meet Rt 2 You have any idea how many wood stacks you could cover with a demo saw and some of those huge aluminum highway signs? LOL
Looking good Joe. Sometimes trial and error are the best ways. Ive learned that through my love life...i try and realize my error!
Done for now. Eventually those struts need to be redone but they’ll hold for now. And a real battery box would be nice. Only pulled one log out of the woods but it’s much smoother.
