This is a terrific thread, I'm taking notes like crazy. We've been making our own pizzas for years but there are a lot of ideas here I've never seen. We bought a cheap Mr Pizza pizza oven for half off when the local grocery store was blowing out their summer stuff in September. It's held up for seven or so years. It's starting to rust through and will have to be replaced soon. What do you all recommend? How do you like what you are using? Thanks! Brad
We have an Ooni Koda 16. It’s a great oven. With propane, it heats up quickly and you’re easily able to dial in the temp and hold it there. We use it year round on our covered porch and make pizza weekly.
Dang those look delicious! What are you cooking in again? We haven't made pizza in a loooonnng time. Need to fix that soon.
Thanks! They are tasty! The round pizzas are cooked in an Ooni Koda 16; it’s a propane pizza oven. Heats up good and hot, even in the winter. 325g dough balls made with 00 flour. The Detroit pizza is cooked in the regular oven. The pan is a 12x12. Yep, you go through some cheese with that one! Here’s the recipe I used for the Detroit: Detroit-Style Pan Pizza Recipe
I use a frozen dough I buy from restaurant depot. 50 dough balls for like 20$. And it’s a really good dough. Oven is a Fontana mangifuco can fit multiple pizzas at once. Iv done a lot of other things in there. Chicken fish grilled steaks garlic knots etc. My favorite thing to do it roast garlic. Oh my god delicious and bake some bread to go with it.
I never knew restaurant depot sold dough! That oven looks awesome! Love all the other meals you were able to cook in it. How versatile! Must be fun to fire it up and do some cooking.
Ya it’s fun. Everyone is so amazed that u could make so many different things. Most think it’s only for pizza. Lol. I also use it as a warmer on the holidays when the hole family is here and we’re doing a lot of cooking.
That’s awesome! Great to hear it gets so much use. It’s always good to have something that can cook multiple different things. It’s like a grill!
Did a traditional New Haven pizza the other night in the Ooni. This was made with bread flour, 68% hydration.
