I bought my 201t a couple years ago for $350 and it looked like it was BARELY used. Still had the $679 OPE sticker on it.

    Think my 194T was $400 OTD...April 2020

It seems to me that the helicoil is way more than 1mm wider just based on the image of the tap they use. Or maybe I am wrong. Anyone know how big the new hole is? I'll clamp it into the vise and see if I can unscrew the helicoil. That must be it.

Good eye and that would explain it.

I have a helicoil kit. Do you need me to measure tap or check drill size?

No, but the 201 needs TLC. Been sitting on the bench since Spring. Dropped a log on it by accident.:emb:
Blunt impact trauma and i think a bit pricey to fix. Thinking about getting another top handle anyhow.

I gave Troy to my brother in law for a couple reasons. One, he's getting up there and needed a light saw for the 15" and smaller stuff. Lugging his ms310 and ms311 around limbing ect is getting old. The other reason is, OCD and my having my cake and eat it too attitude, I'll grab Troy and let the $$$$ ported saws stay clean, never enjoying them. So I'm systematically removing that temptation / option so If I need / want to run a saw I'll have no choice but to use them. Hoe lee I'm an odd duck....

I use them but if I have a beater saw to grab instead, I will because......

    ODD DUCK. :loco:

I have no beater saws now. 5 ported saws and a few vintage Remington Mighty Mite saws. And the Mini Mac you want.

Just put in a helicoil on a 562 a couple months ago where the plug was just rattling around, destroying the the cylinder threads.

Didn’t figure how a plug could get that loose without some human performance issue.

I guess I’d go with oem spec unless there isn’t enough purchase, then go with what will work

I think I take apart the saw first and inspect the crankshaft and condition of the piston. My guess is it's probably easier to just order a Meteor piston/cylinder kit if everything else checks out.

If it's just the spark plug hole bunged up, I'd go for a sleeve-style spark plug thread repair kit. Nothing runs better than the OEM cylinder - usually.

When using that style kit, installing the correct insert at the right height is critical. Do not leave the edge proud of the sealing surface, and do not have any insert hanging into the cylinder.

It appears they sold you a plug for the 201T, not sure though. I know the 201T plug threads are smaller than the 200T.

The good condition MS200T is up and running. After cleaning it all up I filled the tank only to find that the fuel line was leaking right at the gasket seal. Turns out the old line had stiffened up to the point where it no longer made a nice seal.

The carb also needed a gasket kit (RB69 for the Zama carb) and that worked like a charm as well. Tried to run it without doing that first but it just didn't rev properly and was bogging down. Felt like a fuel supply issue and indeed it was.

Here's a short video of it running minus the bar and chain. The chain brake cover was so dirty it's a good thing I decided to open up that inner panel. Holy moly it was crusty and disgusting.

Setting aside the helicoil ms200t for now. Got the second set of twins. Good compression on one with a broken handle. Bad compression on the other with a good handle. I'll swap the handles and see if she starts. But holy moly the good compression one was caked with spruce/pine sap....And that stuff is black BLACK.....and I had to do a lot of scraping with a flathead and a steel brush to even find the screws for the ignition coil.

:bug: WOW! I think caked is an understatement. Like a time capsule of crud. That softwood sap is some sticky azz stuff.
