Hope everyone has been having a good summer, I apologize for not being here much but we've been busy (as usual), in particular trying to get this pizza oven done!

Figured I was overdue on posting some keyhole cooking pics, so here's a few from this evening.....

We cooked up some sweet sausages and fresh corn-on-the-cob this evening on the keyhole over some pecan slivers (from my buddy T.Jeff Veal) and some cherry slivers. I probably need not tell you that it was delicious!

You can see the stone monolith in the background, that's the pizza oven/fireplace....it's coming along nicely, some more progress pics soon!

Dinner looks great! I built my keyhole pit a few years ago after seeing yours. Love cooking on it!

Yes the keyhole is the bees knees for cooking over fire! Ours is going on 12yrs old, she's a little worse for wear, weve had hundreds and hundreds of fires and many meals over it. Going to overhaul it and move it closer to the pizza oven/fireplace next spring. I'll try to keep some of the original stones in it, but alot of them have cracked and disintegrated over the years. Well haul some replacements off of the mountain and also build a stone 'patio' around the new one.

Not bad, not getting everything I want to happen but it'll pan out some day. How about you guys? Hope summer is going well. I HATE this heat! I know it's hot up in New Hampshire also, but NOT like this. Humidity here is unbearable. :dennis:

that's a great design. I had something similar with cinder block, but they kept cracking. Not many good/flat stones where I am

Looks great buddy! Nothing like a keyhole pit!

I used 3/16" stainless rod, spaced at 3/4" or so apart. The chassis rods in my grate are 1/4" stainless. You don't want a hot dog to fall through the grate, keep that in mind when fabbing it.

It’s pretty much finished for this year. I have one more tarp to hang before snow flies and that’s about it. I’ll probably dream up more changes before next summer though.:emb:
