Got this load of mulberry and hackberry spilt up yesterday but didn't really feel like stacking it. In a heat advisory with high humidity and no breeze makes for an extra sweaty miserable experience. So, I provided my own breeze and boy did it make a huge difference. So much so i took it over to the splitter this morning to split another load of mulberry. Didn't get any pictures of today's though.
That is pretty much what we are dealing with today also. Supposed to be over 100 with like 70%humidity .......
Thanks to all you enablers, I am on the 5 year plan, so it wasn't necessity. Just wanted to get them out of the trailers and into the stacks.
Smart move with the fan. Dont fare well in it myself. I was at one of my supply houses today and they had a couple fans that size blowing in the warehouse. Asked if i could borrow one.
Were not enablers, were encouragers! We encourage you to hoard as much wood as possible! Nice looking stacks and way to getter done! How many cords on hand now?
I'm NW of ya a couple hundred miles and it wasn't any better up here. My wood processing pretty much grinds to a halt in the summer. None of it is enjoyable when I end up soaked in sweat, just standing there. Good looking hoard there.
I'm not sure on total cordage. I intend on taking some measurements tomorrow. The pictures show just one stack two 16" rows wide. There is another stack 2 rows wide 6 feet away all hedge. Its a little taller i think.
I have to do the fan thing too, working in the shop, when it's stupid hot. Your fan looks like it really moves some air. Me like. I use a couple 22" box fans, one on the floor and one waist height. Works well... especially when I'm welding. Keeps me cool and gets the fumes away too. Nice job splittin n stackin in this heat Gavorosalini ... my firewood attitude doesn't kick in until the cooler fall temps.
I am ready for fall too. Had enough summer already. I did cut a couple pine trees yesterday but temps here were in 70's with low humidity.
I did some measuring today. Depending on how i did my math i came up with 12.9 or 13.5 cords. It's hot and my math brain hurts. The higher number I was using ft for all my measuring and think I was converting 32" wrong. I was using that as 2.75 ft. Pretty sure it needed to be 2.66666? I'm just confusing myself. My biggest stack is 50' long 4' tall and 32" across. I came up with 550 or 533 cubic feet. 4.3 or 4.16 cord. How do y'all figure it? I use 2 cordsish personally a year. Either way I'm on the 6+ year plan. We do sell bundles too, but not usually enough to worry about running out.
Definitely nice looking stacks. the rounds give away your multi-year plan. I sweated with you yesterday and today. No splitting, just moving this fall's supply up to the house....to make room for the next tree job. I came home from work and did a little, just enough to make tomorows work worth doing. This weekend: Today: 1.73 cord
Were not getting the crazy hot temps some people are but since we can get some 20 or 30 below temps during the winter, summer or the warmer can stay. We usually start burning around September 15 or if it stays warm, the latest we started burning was September 25.
Its close enough for me. Sometimes my math brain hurts too. I stack in units of half cords and size my racks/stacks accordingly. I cant just put a pallet down and stack away! Lately been making racks that are 4x6" double row so 1/4 cord in each row half cord for the stack. Most gets sold in half cord increments so makes it easier come sale time.
I forgot all about that calculator. It panned out to the smaller number. Gotta hate it when that happens. Can't even use the excuse that it was cold out.
Gavorosalini - That fan is tantamount to Scotty Overkill level overkill! But in an overly excellent overkill way! Years ago my Mrs. VW Fire Flake asked for the box fan and the pop up canopy- cranked out a couple cords over 3 mid August afternoons. Worked great til a monsoon came and wrecked the canopy!
