I've been following this thread closely. That trailer looks awesome!! I find the whole building process very satisfying for some reason...
Awesome transformation of said new wood hauler. I never thought of repurposing a drop in bed liner, really like that idea.
Been doing that for a while now, in my wood wagon and my road legal utility trailer. It makes cleanout crazy easy and keeps weather and sun off the wood deck. I just back up to my burn pile and stuff slides right out. Then fingers go down in the grooves to get all the fine.
When I first did it in the Snowbear, the plywood decking was getting old. That was many years ago and in fact, I've never changed it since I bought it. I occasionally remove that one to get any debris that collects on the sides. Plywood hasn't changed. The wood wagon liner was cut in a way that it has a couple inches of side coverage. It's deck is treated ply. A ccouple months ago, I checked it. And I did a paint can clean out. Used up some older cans before they went bad. I figured it wouldn’t hurt. Wood was solid and not much different from when I added the liner. I'm sure it's not moisture proof though.
So I tried to get these at TSC this last weekend. Website said my local had “1” in stock. Went there and they didn’t have any. Price was over $30 and unclear how many pieces were included. So I ordered elsewhere. Got em and installed today. Also cut off the top row for ease of reaching in. Corner pockets were definitely needed. Thanks for pointing me in their direction!
Great idea with the bed liner. I run across them on occasion for free , next one I come across I will grab it and cut it to fit my small trailer.
If the same bolt pattern, I would. Today was a bit muddy and these tires sink in a lot more than my other one did. A wider footprint would be a welcome addition. I'll get a measurement here soon and be in touch. Thanks!
I also have a 4x8 with 2 foot sides that come off with hinge bolts with cotter pins. Split wood goes right in it no more to stacks much easier.
I’ve never done it but have considered it. I see no reason the hub from your small rim couldn’t be cut and welded on a larger rim with its bolt pattern cut out. Might not want to take it on the highway but for around the yard should be just fine.
Same corner brackets I got on my trailer. They make all the difference in both form and function on those corners Jason. Really looks nice!
