This is sort of the beginning of the end of the backyard overhaul project. Making Our Backyard "Ours" The old deck, what was worth saving, became the wood shed/kid's clubhouse. A scrounged woodshed And the new spot will be a corner wrap patio that has a roof, just under 600 sq ft. Here we go... <I need to find the old before pic... placeholder> Materials shot, first order, ouch. Hired a friend/pro to help move along the carpentry and excavation. Day one complete, removed 30+ yds of earth and set a couple piers. Oh and made a big mess, cue the wife freak out.
Day 3 was huge, different friend came to help and we fixed the grade and got the dense pack down for my future pavers. He also dug me a trench to hopefully avoid any kind of water problems. About 30 tons of dense grade, I was the shovel guy!
Short day was putting in the pipe and wrapping with crushed stone/ fabric. Wife and kids helped. Only "after" pics but trust me, it's in there.
Thanks all, back to full time work mode so progress will slow way down. My goal is to be enjoying it by end of summer, with a lot of to do items remaining that can get completed later on.
A basod sighting!! Roof will come in around a 2 pitch, black standing seam, tie in.... yeah that part is why I use a carpenter friend.
Yeah looks complicated with the gambrel roof. Eric VW life has had some interesting turns over the past couple years. Don’t want to derail cnice_37 thread. I’ll pop in the PM.
