Had a good evening on the woodyard Wednesday. Worked about 2 hrs, felt good. We got the rounds from Tuesday staged on the ramps, then decided to cut several more logs. amateur cutter we let that ugly plastic "029" and the MS180 play together on the log pile. Made quick work of several logs. Got a big pile staged on the ramps My hunny said she felt good enough to stack some, so we fired up the splitter. Made a small dent in the rounds stack It's a start... If it doesn't rain, hope to add to it tonight.
Got some more split after work last night, then the rain started again. Tigger decided he liked being in the shed with me while I stacked.
Looks good Jeff,so glad you and miss Carol are feeling better! That old 029 is one of the coolest saws I've run.
We split enough Friday afternoon to finish the first row and a start on 2nd row, decided we needed a date night. Glad we found this with the splitter and not the saw... Got an early start this morning while it was cool. Done with 2nd row by 10:00AM. I think we have about 5-6 rounds left on the ramps to split Got called in to work.... Operator was sick......
After getting home about 8:30 PM, we went back to the woodyard, had 8 rounds left. This finished the big stack of rounds we had bucked. Of course, we had extra help, Tigger and Sunshine made sure to supervise. Got almost a 1/3 row done. That will be 1 cord when that row is finished. Maybe that will get done Monday.
We got the rest of the logs bucked and staged last weekend in May. Had time to S/S this morning after work...finished this shed and a little in the next one. Made a dent in the stack of rounds...
We usually do when we are working on filling a shed. It definitely helps, you can feel the temperature differences in the air after it moves thru the wood. 3 stacks deep works well. Even use them on the big sheds.
Time for an update. Goat Town Firewood is alive and well. The full 1 cord rack has been sold.....Guy is driving about 45 miles 1 way to get it, he loads it on his Ranger pickup.....probably take him 4 trips...said he's retired and likes the drive... Modified our light set-up. Added a longer board on top of the 10' ladder, holds lights better We started with half stack in this shed this morning Worked on this until splitter ran out of gas, got about a face cord done Got these rounds left for tomorrow. Our set-up.... After we shut down splitter, restocked and added to the cherry rack. We originally had the pallets covered with plywood for strength, but would stay damp longer after rain Then started sorting and stacking more logs from our logging job...Phase 2 logging Our biggest logging job yet. Got a few beech logs jrider I found a good use for the sweet gum poles......skids for the good logs...... Hard to see, late evening picture, but that is 9 loads dumped on the ground Worked on sorting hickory, maple and beech from oak and stacking over several days...got about 7 loads done Another stack of oak. The smaller, crooked and knotty logs we are cutting now.
I like the tag team effort from splitter to stacking. Nice job folks. I have on occasion split into the wheelbarrow and gone to the stack that way.
You have a mountain of logs sir! Somehow I had never noticed how you take the time to split the bark off every piece. That must make for some super clean firewood!
