Ok, any thing else to prevent problems down the road ? Thanks , I will check and be carful . If the carb is messed up do you think this is really a ZAMA carb? ,http://www.ebay.com/itm/141368512366?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&fromMakeTrack=true
I don't see any reason to think it isn't. The seller is US-based with good feedback and has been on eBay for 14 years.
Ok took it apart didn't really see anything wrong, impulse grommet and intake are pliable and no cracks, intake boot actually looks like new . The impulse grommet didn't fit real tight on the plastic tube (slid on and off real easy ) didn't seem like it would leek but IDK how tight it should be. Put it back together ,started 3rd pull but wouldn't idle ,adjusted it to keep it running then got out the tach, got it running good. WOT it's running at 11200 to 11500, idle is about 3200 lower than that it won't stay running. As far as I know it should be 2500 idle 12500 top power IDK maybe I just got it to far out of adjustment the other day but it was erratic now it isn't . All I did was take it apart and put it back together now its running good , noodled a chunk of hickory and oak . What do ya think is it a intermittent carb problem ? Took a bunch of pics here is some
So are you saying its idelimg 11500 and idle is roughly 3000 below that so its modeling 8000 rpm or so? If thats the case id say air leak. Also I have had carbs that everything looked "fine" on but were not and once rebuilt they ran fine. Usually an issue of it bogging or just not running in those cases?
Went out and started it back up now it's acting weird again. Started up idled ok punched it ,it revved real high and died now won't stay running , will start with chock closed but won't stay running
I know it wasn't my imagination that it was acting up the other day but , I noodled some more hickory and it's running good
When I put mine back together, I put some Anaerobic silicone (Dirko, CNH Gasket Maker, Yamabond, etc) Just a small amount on the inside and outside of impulse grommet, and a small amount on the inside, of both sides of the intake boot. Probably not needed when new, but an old impulse grommet that loose will cause a leak. With that said, it sounds like the intake partition may have been loose before disassembly? And your take down and rebuild may have snagged something up? Just a guess.. And fuel always helps a saw lol Happens to everyone.
the screws didn't seem loose but when I put it back on I pushed it in tight then tighten the screws down. I will order a new impulse grommet I don't know why it has to be running at 3200 to 3500 at idle to stay running
Always a great idea when unsure. There is still times I take a photo. Brake bands and the arms, springs, etc confuse me still.
